Mysterious Yellow Wire

Mysterious Yellow Wire

Postby Stapler401 on Sun Dec 28, 2008 8:10 am

G'day.

After removing the factory (GLS) radio, There is an additional plug which I am not sure where it goes first there is RADIO ==>Plug=>Wires==>Plug==> which makes for easy removal to solder (which makes me happy), however in this little middle wire section there is a single yellow wire that is next to the front speaker wires, it has its own bit of conduit and runs out under the dash, steering column and into a little plug in the fuse box. the plug in the fuse box looks like it could accomodate about 6 wires, but there is only this one.
It is not a part of any other wiring (not cable tied or taped to main loom) so it looks like a bit of an after thought.

Any ideas on what this could be? - The Yellow Power wire is there so its not that, and thoughts on which way signals travel along it? (i.e if from car to stereo then I won't worry about facilitating it in my new install)

Thanks

Dave

Just had a thought

It could be the wire that controls the power Antenna

Just had a whirl with the multimeter.. Turns out its constant 12v.. Even though that is also on the first plug... A bit bizarre but i'm sure its like that for a reason

Be very very careful with yellow wires. I believe air bag wires are yellow as standard.

Trytin speaks the truth, especially if it's in yellow conduit :o
