Engine Light Again

Engine Light Again

Postby Davoxt on Mon Jan 05, 2009 8:43 am

Well that bloody engine light has come on again, iam running my CR-Plus on six and have my EGR valve blocked off.
Ive tried the old disconnect the battery trick and turn the CR down to 3 which worked 2 month ago put not this time.
I can hear you say what an idiot just leave the settings on 3.
Well living in the outback i am passing road trains all the time and i can tell you set on 3-4 is the same as stock meaning i have to go down a gear and give her shit.
It looks like iam going to have to buy a SGII on ebay to clear the code.
On six she just grunts off passing the truck in top gear i need grunt grunt grunt grunt and more grunt so do i just keep resetting the engine light with the SGll or should i put the money towards better POWER box giving me less hassels and some grunt.

Cheers

Unblock the EGR valve see if the light comes on then... Blocking the EGR valve makes me very nervous for very good reasons, there's no way I'd do that on mine.

I am having the same problem with a CR-plus (manual 07 GLX-R, no EGR mods)), I am running on 3 after getting the engine-light on anything above this - I suspected it was ambient heat-related as I only ever got the engine light when on the power in the heat of the day. I have a ScanguageII and I can tell you it's a PITA even with this to clear the error  But man does it fly on 6 and above, and the better economy is astounding.

I think I would put the money towards a different type of chip rather than a Scanguage...

My ScanGauge11 arrived today, nice user friendly bit of gear just plug and play.
Fixed my engine light code P1060, now running my CR-plus on 5.
Anyone know what the code stands for?

It appears to be a Mitsubishi specific Powertrain trouble code. I do not have the details of it apart from the following list;

P1XXX --- MANUFACTURER CONTROLLED
P10XX Fuel and Air Metering and Auxiliary Emission Controls
P11XX Fuel and Air Metering
P12XX Fuel and Air Metering
P13XX Ignition System or Misfire
P14XX Auxiliary Emission Controls
P15XX Vehicle Speed, Idle Control, and Auxiliary Inputs
P16XX Computer and Auxiliary Inputs
P17XX Transmission
P18XX Transmission
P19XX Transmission
