Electrical gremlins- central locking, cruise, interior light

Postby morgstar on Mon Jan 04, 2021 3:00 pm

Hi Lads, in need of some help. Im feeling a bit defeated at the moment.
I've been searching the forum for a few days but no real answers .
My 2011 MN has been really reliable for 220k but the last two weeks has developed some electrical gremlins ( may or may not be caused by 4yo jamming a pen into areas of the fuse box under the dash).
I have no clock or interior light, the central locking doesn't work by remote, when inside the car you can lock all the doors using the driver's door but only when the key is on.
I've pulled and checked fuses, the interior light one looked blown so replaced it but no different - before doing this the cruise control would only work if the parking lights weren't on but it seems ok now ( 3 times the TC, ABS and Stability control lights came on but hasn't done that in a while but that seemed linked to the parking lights too ).
Any pointers ?
I am wondering if its all signs of the ETACS on the way out?
TIA.

Have you checked ALL of the fuses? The IOD connector (fuse in yellow holder) may be adrift. Try pushing it in.

Thanks for the reply DibbyDibbyDJ ,
I thought I had but I dont recall a yellow holder - when the rain eases I'll jump back into it.
Lights, clock, central locking is the only issues left I'm aware of

So the 'only' issue left is no interior light, no clock, no remote central locking and all the doors only lock manually if the key is in the ignition and turned on. Oh and the trip computer resets if it's off for a couple of minutes

Are the screws that secure the interior light switches tight? I have seen loose screws cause central locking issues
