Central locking...

Central locking...

Postby Blue on Thu May 21, 2009 7:58 pm

Anyone fitted an audible beeper to their central locking...???

reason I ask is simple - after returning to my car a few times to find the doors unlocked and being sure I had locked them, I finally noticed that on occasion I am depressing the open button when I stuff the keys into my pocket - only noticed as it was night and saw the orange flash from the indicators...

Was thinking an audible beeper would solve this problem...

That would be handy... No point wiring one to the indicators or I'll be sitting at the lights sounding like a postie bike...

You can't accidentally unlock the car, because if the car is locked and you unlock it without opening a door for 30 seconds, it re-locks itself.... at least mine does.
The locks going from unlocked to locked make a different sound, I guess I just got used to it.

Mine will stay open if the interior light hasn't yet gone out and I unlock it... Once the interior light is out and I unlock it, it relocks itself...

Well I got the better part sorted at the last service - the light should go out as soon as you lock the doors but mine was staying on for 45 seconds - they messed with the wiring and sorted it, now no light after locking and if I hit the 'open' button, it relocks itself shortly after...

What You need to do is get the lock wire in the drivers side kick panel <blue /black> use this for your positive on a busser then you can put a relay in for the earth that only works when the key is off .Sounds hard but is a very easy job .Hope this helps Julian

im pretty sure it can be changed via them big expensive machines the dealers use.

i think i remember reading about it in the online manual that got passed around a little while back. you can change the audible beep, flash 2 or 4 times, ect.

Would be handy, when my car got "broken" into it was my fault, cos the passenger door was slightly open cos it was not shut properly when i got something out, therefore the central locking didnt arm and i wasnt watching to check.

Did that affect your insurance claim mate?
I leave mine unlocked occasionally at home - sorta in the bush - and I wonder what insurance says if there is "no sign of forcible entry".
