Installing Double DIN radio (Digoptions) in MN GLX-R

Looks like they're only using torque though, which I can already access over Bluetooth with a nexus tablet.

The brash imports unit plugs into the existing cabling for the Rv meter (if you have it) and displays trip functions from there. I see that as a superior approach

My mate will give me the lot for a case of beer. Was just wondering if it will work?
Need to know if it will work. I thought it should just might need a auto electrician unless it is plug and play. Anyone know or tried it

I reckon it will but I'm not aware of anyone who has done it. If you go to the Russian workshop manuals online you can look at a manual for each year. Check the wiring diagram for what they call the rv meter and see if the plug is the same.

Also if this means you're ditching the existing rv meter there was a bloke on here that wanted one for his challenger

Happy to get rid of it if it works.
Was thinking that it should work even if you just get a auto electrican involved.. Maybe he can just splice the wires? Anyways what do you guys think??

I'm in Sydney too. Happy to help if you like. If you already have an info display then I'm about 90% sure it will just plug and play. Auto electrician should be a last resort I reckon.

If it works you can. But the reason i was asking is because on the 2013 I know that the trip computer displays the radio functions like stations ( 104.9) etc. and on the 2014 it is all displayed on the stereo screen. So I though that it might be a bit of a different plug at the back of them.

Now I'm confused. I thought you meant the new style with the double din and smaller info display on top of it? Maybe take a photo of yours and his so we're all talking about the same thing?

Yes that's what I am talking about. So I and changing from the 2013 single fascia to the 2014 double fascia and my mate is giving me his 2014 trip computer to put in it so I don't have to covert my old one to make it fit.
On the 2013 trip computer When you change the radio station or make a phone call or recieve a phone call it is displayed on it. Where on the 2014 it is all displayed on the radio screen. Not on the trip computer.
Dose that make sense ? Hard to explain.

hi,
the factory microphone does not plug into the head unit. It plugs into the handsfree ecu. This ecu controls the voice activation mode from your steering wheel controls, the steering wheel controls and it ALSO controls the usb plug in your glove box - yes the usb in your glove box is not connected to the head unit.
On the pre 2014 models it is called 'handsfree ecu'' and on post 2014 with the newer headunit with rv meter above it, they refer to it as the 'usb box'
The only connection from the USB box / handsfree ecu to the head unit is for display purposes and some minor control purposes.
This is why when you remove the factory head unit for an aftermarket unit, voice recognition no longer works and steering wheel controls serve a different purpose. They also need run new usb line to the glove box connection..
After market units cannot 'talk 'to the mitsubsihi usb box.
cheers, Rod

Horratio wrote:Just a question about the Double Din factory unit described above. How does the factory microphone mounted in the roof plug into the factory head unit? I would like to use this microphone for a new dig options head unit. The dig options external microphone seems to be a 3.5mm standard headphone jack. Would be ideal if it is the same but can't see an obvious hole in the pics above.

hi,
the newer style 2014 model unit cannot plug into the 2013 model wiring plugs.
The 2 x white plugs that go into the back of the head unit are both different types.
..... in saying this.. it is possible to do.
The plugs in the back of the 2014 model are the same as the plugs in the 2014 Mitsubishi ASX headunit which i fitted into my car

....but this took me about a year to sort out. You need both full wiring diagrams from 2013 and 2014 models.
You need cross reference ALL the wiring, not just from the head unit but from the usb box.
One of the plugs is available as a blank with a few connectors in it, but you need to buy 3 of these to be able to get enough pin outs to plug in.
The other plug is not available, in which you need a buy a few plugs with the correct female pin outs, pull each pin out carefully, heat shrink around each one ( so they dont touch) and insert into the plug individually.
You basically need make your own 'in between harness' ....
There is no way in the world i could even write this up .... without creating a novel.
cheers, Rod

see viewtopic.php?f=18&t=10531&start=50#p411243

.....here are 2 pics. You can compare the plug difference. The shape of the plugs are different and the pin out numbers in each plug are different....
the plug on the right is mostly for all radio / cd functions and the plug on the left mostly for usb box / phone / usb in glove box function :
