Is this an issue with my diff?

Postby sheeds on Sun Sep 09, 2018 10:13 am

Hi all,

I serviced my Triton the other day and found the read wheels don't both spin when rear end is jacked up.

I have a MN triton, it may be normal, but need clarification.

My friend has the ml triton and his both turn when jacked up.

Thanks in advanced.

Normal? Yes.

Your friend has ML with LSD rear while you have open rear diff, with stability and traction control, a system introduced early in the MN life after the Victorian government introduced legislation requiring ASC on new vehicles.

The two systems perform a similar function on road, in terms of transfer of some drive to the wheel with traction i.e. not spinning, but appear different in a no load situation such as you've created by jacking up the rear end.

More information here and here.

Please continue discussion in an appropriate thread.
Chris

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?
