MN ATF radiator bypass hose specs?

Postby kevin on Fri May 28, 2021 5:02 pm

I will be towing later this year when I receive my new hybrid camper and want to avoid the dreaded overheat issue (already had it go very hot offroad once on an extremely hot day w/o towing!) and am seeking the hose sizes, diameter and length, to achieve the ATF bypass. (I've searched the forum extensively and as yet am not able to find this info). In the process of searching I have found a lot of useful stuff like use Sportshift, install a thermo fan, install additional ATF aux coolers etc all of which I will consider of course ;)
Thanks for any info
Cheers

Are you talking engine or trans overheating?

@DibbyDibbyDJ
Trans leading to engine overheating- apologies for not making it clear. I was just thinking about my post and realised I had left that bit out so logged back on on and repaired the title etc. As an administrator on two other motoring forums you would think I should know better! :lol:

The Triton engine does a good enough job on its own with overheating. Trans temps are not a contributing factor, So if its gonna overheat, its gonna overheat

Been under the car this morning; the ATF solid pipes are 10mm and I reckon 3M of hose should be more than enough to do a run from the pipes above the steering rack to the ATF cooler and return. That's unless I decide to move the ATF cooler of course.

I've decided to go with the Auto-Mate.
