well got my car back yesterday i was sick as a dog after spending half the night in hospital so drove it home parked it and that was it.
today had to take it to arb to get the rear bar change couse they did not make it properly
picked it up at lunch time and they said you got your left cv done said yep why whats up,
the dealer did not even put the cotter pin in the retainer nut and the dust cap was left off as well
so arb put in the cotter pin for me and said if one of my guys did that he would be sacked on the spot never going to take my car back there again   :x

Not good mate. What was wrong with your rear bar ? My row hitch is slightly off level and it annoys the hell out of me on my arb bar haha

at least it was a warranty job- I had to fight for a fix for my limp modes.

Last straw was the air filter at the 60k service- I checked (and I never check) but I was going for a 15,000km trip to WA towing a caravan so I asked for a bit of a detailed service and replace anything that was needed (don't mind the cost) I opened the airbox after the service in their driveway and dead moths and dust came out.

Not happy- airfilter accompanied me to the service desk thunder clouds behind..........

never been back since.

This thread is getting real interesting.

Good morning

Mitsubishi has advised it looks like wheel slip then causing hard torque reapplying causing it to break.

Generally from heavy off road conditions.

But as your suspension has been modified, it may have meant the drive shaft was at an extreme point?

Mitsubishi will no longer cover it under new car warranty. In the owners handbook it states “any defect caused by alteration or modification”

Sorry, but I have to follow Mitsubishi policy :x :x

Wondering if I should ramp it up. :?

Hi All.

Very interesting read so far here.

At 20,000 kay i have had my cv start clicking very loud and noticeably. Left hand side, i am rather cautious of the cv's every time i'm out 4beeing but cant help noticing from you guys that if you own a lifted triton this is a familiar thing.

My question to you all is , How many kays do yours last ? How many times have you had to change them ?

Is it an easy thing to do ?
I found Fraz91's steb by step instructions on here and checked that out, quite detailed so thank you.

But i think mitsu may be changing mine out of good will this first time. But i think it will be only fair to them that i did lower my front end to 2 inch instead of 3 untill i sort out some diff drop options.

Am i in the firing line having my vehicle lifted to 2 inches too ? I've seen manyof you in video's tackle some serious terrain just like i do so wouldnt mind knowing how they held up for you and what precautionary measures you all take with them Eg, get them changed often , have spares and tools in car for them etc ...

Hope you're all well :D

My CVs remained intact until I got a front locker (maybe 100,000Km). Obviously with the locker it was being pushed further. Up until that time I had no issues getting most places and put the Triton through some difficult tracks.

I think the key thing to remember is with a lift and the large amount of torque that they run you need to be very mindful what you are doing. You can't crash and bash your way through things like you might with a Patrol or Cruiser.

Very True Naff, One thing i must say is that having a car with cv's as a week point it has turned me into a more precise and technical kind of driver trying to find the right line instead of putting my right foot hard to the floor.

In saying this i hear mixed reports about lockers and cv's, some people say that it saves them as they dont have to push too hard as the wheel thats on the ground is doing enough to get you out of the sticky situation even at low speeds which means you dont have to damage cv's when the wheel in the air comes down and meets the ground again.

I'm seriously contemplating getting a diff drop kit, diff drop mounts and even uca's from thailand just do deal with this problem.
Has anyone got them ?

For me, I have changed out mine when they start clicking or a fault is found (like my current one in need) for a total now of 4 cv's in 3yrs or so of having my front locker.

Take into consideration that my original ones were abused before the locker install and this is my first 4wd, so I'm still learning how to drive it properly - even more so now I'm dual locked.
I'm not so good with the advice  ... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment???
