No probs, I doubt running the unit on f would have damaged it, if anything it would throw up a fault on the dash

Where to mount UHF???

Postby Jiminy on Fri Jun 13, 2008 5:51 am

I bolted my UHF into the glove box and have a remote speaker under dash near the streering wheel.

As I don't have a nudge or bull bar, I opted for a window sticker aerial which is unobtrusively placed behind the passengers sun visor at the top of the windscreen.

You would never know I had a UHF in my Triton which is how I like it. 8-)

ML, shane has a good point. An overhead console would be ideal, has been mentioned recently on the forum, even with pictures. Looked pretty flash from memory

Where to mount UHF???

Postby Iron_eagle70 on Fri Jun 13, 2008 12:38 pm

Mines a Uniden remote unit on only has the handset with all the controls in it. Put the UHF box under the drivers seat and the handset reaches with the standard coiled cord for me to speak.

Only prob I can see with mounting it there is drowning it if the cab fills with water. But I'm thinking I will have more things to worry about than the UHF if thats the case.

G'day Shane

The sticker aerial works, but not as well as the traditional aerial so there is a trade off.

I mainly use my UHF for road reports and now I am married it doesn't get turned as much as my bride doesn't appreciate Truckie vernacular.

Pop out the sunglass holder and mount to UHF in to it that if it fits I nearly mounted mine in there but couldnt get the detachable face wiring to reach the main unit but was a good idea so see if yours will fit and you dont have to go to the expense of overhead console

Iron, be careful not to get the cable caught in the seat tracks, I had a phone chager cable die an ugly death like that.

Jitshiu,

Don't move the seat that much I'm the only driver. So all good there. If I see one I might even get the extension that is available and run that up and place the thing in a console or as someone just said the sunglass holder. But thats if I see the extension cable and it's a decent price. Canopy is paid for soon so budget is close.
