Could that be thrust bearing wear? I can't remember if they make noise when the clutch is out and disappears when clutch is pressed or the other way around. It's been a long time since I had to replace one having only just got back into manuals.
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal labotomy!

It ain't pretty being easy!!

the noise is there since the first kms. mitsubishi said it's normal.:-) 18000 km. now.
It's not the bearing on the clutch. I know that noise from my older car.

Gear rattle. Yes that is. My friends tritons has it too. It seems to me that some have the rattle and others not. Mitsu says something about first gear and reverse, when in neutral they rattle. Not dangerous but anoying:x
