front diff lock

After being in a patrol gu with front arb locker, I wouldn't put an autolocker on the front.
In certain situations you definately want to have 100% steering, something you cannot guarantee with an autolocker.
Some things are worth a couple of hundred extra!

front diff lock

I've been thinking about the Lokka for the front of the ML and asked the question in another thread, to which I received some very detailed advice on the possibility of damage to other driveline components.

Nevertheless, I'm still thinking (and researching).

This from the 4wdsystems site which has extensive info and Q&A on the Lokka:

The Lokka seems to work differently to the Detroit or manual (ARB etc) and will allow an outside wheel to turn faster than the inside wheel so steering is not the same issue as on other systems.

Talk on other forums sems to be split. Some love them, some hate them.
Chris

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

No worries julian, that's straight from the dogalogue so there's probably a little room to negotiate...

NowForThe5th, please could you post your advise you recieved from ML? I'd be interested to see what they said.

Yes ARB, I was quoted around $1700 for front lockers, and it might have been a little extra for a decent compressor that does the locker and tyres.
fair enough, how about running the factory rear off front comp?
tritonstu, the factory locker runs on very low pressure (around 40 kPa or 6psi), so activating it with the ARB compressor will probably blow the diaphragm out in the actuator.
