fan hitting shroud when cold

Postby CairnsGSE on Sat Aug 16, 2008 9:54 pm

has any one had this problem. started of as a wirring noise when I pulled out of driveway in the morning and after about 5 km never here it again till next morning.Spoke to Irelands in Cairns and they had it over night ,even drove it for them in morning so they new what to listen for but reply was let it develope.Anyway had a jpb down in a cold place in QLD (Taroom) and noise was worse and lasted longer . In the end switched of motor after a short early morning drive and heard noise, after investigation fan hits shroud, tried to adjust a couple of times but looked like engine had sagged on mounts by 20mm.Told cairns dealer and after another day at dealer they removed bottem shroud and have ordered new engine mounts from Japan. To be fitted next week so lets see what happens next.Jap shit rubber

Mine going in on Thurs for new engine mounts (but to try to fix an annoying vibration, not a whirring noise) - I also found there were none in the country, and they had to come from OS

Had the same problem with MK. Replaced engine mounts and trimmed up the fan blade edges and that was the end of that.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?
