Just got my 10'MN back from the 60K service and the new radiator cap, confirmed 50% mix and ECU flashed was done. The service manager confirmed it was wasn't an offical recall but more a precaution by Mitsubishi in identifying the faulty engine blocks which he said was due to a tooling issue.
He told me that the Mitsubishi have a formula on how much the coolant level should drop vs those of the faulty engine blocks by flushing the motor, fill it with the OEM coolant mix and running the vehicle close to the OEM 110kpa whilst checking the coolant level..he didn't give me the formula or the rpm's the car was running at but when l got back into the car, l had a full tank and 40km on the clock with a range of 640km when it was dropped off and now had 7km (test drive) and a fuel range of 170km with the petrol gauge just under the full line.
Apart from the 60K service and replacing the looms for the airbag light, dropped the car off at 9 and got it back at 5...did say they could have given it a carbon clean whilst trying to boil my car

Picked up my stealer used MY10 mn 3 weeks ago with 95K on it from a holden dealership.

While installing the snorkel on the weekend I noticed the coolant overflow had oil in it so bought it back to the dealer who, if I've interpreted the customer service guy correctly, reckon it was an oil cooler issue and have in the process replaced my radiator, presumably with a factory mitsi one?

Anyway, killing some time while waiting I called Mitsi head office to notify of new ownership details and they informed me of the recall.

2 hits in 24 hours... Talk about tarnishing the purchase of my new toy. Booked in with mitsi next week for the recall and will also ask they look over what this dealership have done as I don't trust them as far as I can throw em. Thankfully it still has 7 month manufacturer warranty.

Picked up my car from dealer today after 30k service and they did the recall on cooling system as well. Not sure what they did but I think its a fluid flush and radiator cap.

Funny thing is that no one could tell me where my car was, no one knew where it was parked. Took 10mins to find out it was parked in a back street

Tell ya this service campaign and my 60K service...seems like my MN liked the treatment so much so that the truck seems to have a bit more pull and somehow my economy has improved!!
My standard trip to Jamieson from Sydenham, Vic towing around 1600kgs (our friends happen to pull over every 4wd with a trailer on the public weigh bridge at Yarck) and around 2.5-3hrs to the usual campsite, l'm usually left with just above a 1/2 tank. On this trip, just under or on 3/4 and averaging 8.9lt per km....instead of 10.8 to 11lt km....infact after filling up at Mansfield, l've never seen the distance to empty at 750kms.

Don't know if they loosen up the motor for me or the latest ECU flash had something to do with it but l'm :D :D :D :!:

I found mine was running maybe 3-5 degrees hotter in terms of coolant temps. At first the aircon seemed crap too but that seemed to come good. No idea why for either of those.

They will have reflashed the ecu with the latest software and done an sql as well which could help. Did they clean or change the manifold while they were doing the valve clearances maybe?

No CD, just reflashed and said the clean for the manifold (probably do myself) will happen with the valve clearance at 90/100k, nothing on the invoice to suggest that a manifold change had occurred or clearance but they must have done something or the oe gauges are wrong...might hook up the obd and start logging via torque cos l just can't believe that l've gained nearly 100+kms in range in just a reflash, sql and mitshi fuel injector cleaner additive!!

Anyway...not complaining just ahhh sceptical

Hi Guys,

Thanks for this as I would not have known about this unless I was on the forum.

Could explain why my Air Con has been shutting off on hot days and my coolant level is low!

I haven't had any notification from Mitsubishi but have moved house 5 times since I bought the truck.

Calling them tommo to try to get it booked in for the Service Campaign/Recall..did anyone get to the bottom of whether it is actually a recall or service campaign?

Definitely a service campaign by all the paper work. Unless you are a dealer then they have no idea and call it whatever

As above, it's a service campaign, not a recall.

Hi,

Had mine MY14 done today.
Dealer said the engine is not affected after the test.
So pretty happy about that.

Lets hope they are right.

Cheers

Dealer needed the car for 2 days for the 30k service just done...Didn't mention a thing cheeky buggers.

Pretty decent dealer so assume they've done mine..still, just popping out to the carpark now to see what radiator cap I'm rocking these days!!

How is your dealer. Is it Mitsubishi in centre of Wollongong. I live in Sans Souci and have been going to Mitsubishi in Kirrawee and they are bloody useless. Was yours done as part of a service or did you just call and arrange it yourself?

Thanks
