Transfer case roll stopper

Postby DAZ2007GLS on Thu Apr 22, 2021 9:11 am

Hi Guys,
I have been searching on here and the whole bloody internet for an answer!
When I bought my ML, the guy I purchased it from said the vibration I had at idle was caused when they replaced the Transfer case roll stopper with a MN one, it was stiffer?
So I ordered a new ML Transfer case roll stopper from Mitsubishi.
This is what I got, the one I took out had a threaded bolt on the bottom. As per pic
I have been told there are 2 types
Has anyone fitted this type? id the mounting bracket different ?
Please don't tell me its just rubber on the thread and cut it off, that would be too easy!!!
Hope this pic works, I think I added it right!

No you won't. Threads merged. One thread per subject - keeps it tidy. ;)
Chris

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

OK so I decided to pull on the rubber insert on the bottom of the mount to see how strong it was and weather it was worth proceeding with chasing up a different mounting bracket for it.
And guess what, a good amount of pulling pressure later and wa lah there was a thread under it!!!
Was it just a cover for the thread to stop damage to the thread? I dunno, but its bolted in now and the difference at idle was MASSIVE. so worth doing.
I will happily replace every time it shags out just to stop that vibration!!!
