Turbo timers

Postby dueble on Tue Jan 06, 2009 5:59 pm

What's the story with shutting down the DiD, should it be idled for a couple of minutes like old school turbos in petrol cars?
I am talking about after standard driving, around town etc., not foot flat to the floor up a hill then stopping the motor at the top.
Therefore would a turbo timer be a sensible addition to the car?

I don't think the turbos in 4WDs are working quite as hard as the race car turbos. I'm sure if a timer was necessary, the manufacturer would have included it as a stock item. I think timers are more show than anything.
