MN 4D56 T 131kw Oil Pressure Test.

Postby Fishsticks on Sun May 06, 2018 11:52 am

Gidday mates,

Been getting a ticking noise from my 4D56 engine which sounds like tappets but only under load and cold start conditions.
performed and oil pressure test and came back with these results.

Idle at 85 degrees c - 130kpa
3,500 RPM at 85 degrees c - 370 kpa

These are within manual spec
(idle - 29 kpa or more)
(3,500 RPM - 294/686 kpa)
and are performed at operating temp.

This engine has 202,000 klms on the clock and I'd like to know what anyone else is running.

Another thing I'd like to add is that i had a mechanic install new injectors, however initially he installed genuine Denso injectors and couldn't code them to the ECU, this is when my noise started and basically just turned on like a switch, the engine was incredibly sooty. Since then he has installed genuine Mitsubishi injectors and coded them to the ecu. no more soot. I'd also like to add that at the point of the second injector install he managed to bugger up the leak off line seals and added roughly 2.5 L of diesel to my sump progressively over the course of my 80klm drive. at this point i checked my oil and notice that there was diesel in it. WOW that's a mouth full.

Cheers,

Fishsticks

I have 250,000 on the clock and I get similar pressure at similar temps going by my gauge
where did you get the specifications? is the auto the same engine oil pressure spec?

Hello all, the problem i found turned out to be my crank pulley HAD jumped two teeth on the belt. yes these belts are interference fit but I'm tell you unless it was fit wrong to begin with she jumped two teeth. since replaced timing and balance belt. all good now. :!: :!:
