Hi guys,
I’ve had my MN for about 2 months now and I’ve got a bit of a concern.
Background:
- 2015 MN Triton manual GLXR;
- 68000km at purchase, now at 70,500;
- Just been serviced (not MMA, local trusted mechanic);
- Service history is non-genuine MMA and I don’t have a copy (but have seen - Old owner is now overseas)
- Sounded fine (to me) upon purchase with just usual diesel rattles etc...
- Idles and drives fine.
Since then I can hear what I think is a knock. I’m unable to hear where it’s coming from in the bay. It’s in-time with revs increasing and decreasing and is irrespective of whether clutch is engaged, in gear, rolling in neutral etc... if I rev whilst rolling or stationary, in neutral or in gear the knock is still dependant in revs.
I’ve noticed the last two mornings the oil light has taken an extra second or two to turn off, but it’s been below zero in Canberra those two days.
I know warranty is going to be a huge issue with no documented service history, as the document is overseas and probably won’t be found for a very, very long time (if at all).
It still pulls like a train and isn’t blowing any smoke etc... no dash lights either (except the oil light which turns off after a second or two once it kicks over).
I was thinking of trying a slightly thicker oil to see if it’s the lifters - but what do you recommend? I think 5w/30 was used at the service. It seems to have become louder, or I notice it more post the service it just had.
Alternatively, I’ve also been told it could be a belt pulley (although this wasn’t picked up at service).
Thoughts?
