MN Auto - RPM hunting on highway

Postby Kyle4812 on Mon Dec 05, 2022 6:12 pm

Probably a long shot, but has anyone seen a auto MN that will rev hunt randomly while on the highway at 100+k/h.
Happens when in 5th and driving on the flat, either in cruise or not, but doesn't happen all the time, just when it feels like it.
I have a lock-up kit but doesn't make any difference.

Cheers

Here's a video i got of the issue.

It's like the torque converter O/D clutch is locking/unlocking/locking.
What happens when it's put under load in O/D such as when pulling an incline in 5th with cruise engaged, does the converter unlock and rpm becomes stable instead of hunting ?

There is a software update which may cure your concern

Engine surge at 90 to 110km/h with cruise control activated 4AT and 5AT.

I was thinking its the lockup, but it does become stable when putting some power down.
I also tested when in cruise and in 5th, if i disengaged the lockup kit the revs do spike up about 100-200rpm, so i assume it's locked.
Its a bit frustrating i cant get my Ultraguage to show me the current lock state.
