Looking for 2.5 diesel torque chart

Postby al1231234 on Mon Jun 15, 2009 1:54 am

Hi there, I´m new to this forum and also planing to buy a L200 here in Mexico. Local Mitsubishi sells L200 with 2.5 turbo diesel engine (136 cv and 314 nm) and Easy Select 4x4 system. I already drive it and just love it!
But I need to check up torque and power charts, since it will need bigger tires, Toyo 235/85/16 Mud Open Country are in my mind.
I will use this truck for farm work, and although I have other option, a Nissan 4x4 diesel, the truck hight and cab room have no comparison.
I plan to keep it stock, surely upgrade shocks when needed. It will see lot of highway, dry dirt, mud, sand and city driving, so before I change tires I will test the tiny 205/80/16 that comes with it, after that I will make the tire choice.
So far I´m looking for a torque chart, so if you can help me find it, I´ll apreciate.

Is this what you're looking for, from the Mitsubishi web site?
It's my first attempt at posting a pic so fingers crossed.
Although the torque chart is peakier for the 2.5 than the 3.2 it is putting out more
power for it's capacity compared to the 3.2. For example the scaled down 3.2 power
and torque figures are 91kw and 265Nm

Great!
If you use this link most of the specs should be relevant to the model there because the 2.5 and 3.2 use the same transmissions judging by the matching ratios. Those pics were on the PDF file that you can download from the lower right at 'Download Brochure'.
You might want to save it cos it's 4.45Mb?

Of course I`m saving it, tomorrow I will print it and this is giving me the rules of how to drive my new truck.
It will have the 2.5 diesel engine and a standar five speed transmission, it is also going to be my first diesel truck, and for me engine breaking in is the most important thing for long years of good use. First miles shifting will see revs of up to 2000 to 2500 rpm and as it breaks in it will know the top power at 3500. I can`t wait to drive it.

Assuming yours is built in Thailand like the Oz ones, I was told the diesel engines are shipped over from Japan, bench run for 50 hours and then given an oil change before being slotted under the bonnet? Sounds a bit of a tall story and 50 hours at an average of 2,000rpm is equivalent to about 5,000km but if it's correct they've already done most of it for you and might be why they only say to keep it below 130kph in 5th or about 2,700rpm for the first 1,000km?
My gearbox still feels tight after 2,000km, especially 1st to 2nd.

Very interesting to know that Sierra, so my 2.5 will be almost broke in from the first mile, I don`t know wich other brands do this to their engines. We run a fleet of kenworth trucks and when we repair an engine we break in each piston by hand, pushing and pulling piston and cilinder about with a paste that acts as sand paper, we go up to mark half rings profile, then piston and cilinder match together are washed with diesel and put into the cummings block and armed as normal, after that only a two hours running to put it to hard work.

Great news!
What model have you got, apart from 2.5D manual 4 x 4? I sometimes think I'm the only person in this forum with a single cab chassis/alloy tray.
I'll also be interested in your fuel consumption. Mine has averaged 8.2L/100km so far.
What's the fuel quality like in Mexico because you wouldn't want to fill it up with any low cetane crappy stuff like we have to avoid here?

Sierra you touch a very senscible and important reason of why I decided to get a diesel engine in my L200, I did wanted to know more about diesel quality in Mexico, in my third day I can`t tell you much yet, just that mechanic at Mitsubishi dealer told me it was important to drain water from the pump system every week, imagine the diesel quality we are talking about here, but I will see I haven`t drain it yet.

My L200 is a doublecab four doors, 4x4, diesel, 2008, no ABS, 0 kms that I got for a very good price.
