.... i usually have 4 other lower gears available when above 70. . . . perhaps selecting 4th so its sitting at 2400 odd rpm would solve your issue ;)

I found that an EGR blank brought it back around 150-200rpm, so some improvement.

But, now I'm running a chip It chip, there really isn't a turbo lag. It's great! Even my wife commented, saying 'it feels like I'm driving a normal car now, when you press the pedal she goes!'

Not sure what your chip is, but the chip It one has certainly eliminated it for me. Amazing difference. Don't think the sprint booster will do anything for the lag, as I understand it's just remapped the throttle input earlier, it hasn't altered boost etc.

I think the op was refering to taking off from a standing start.

I thought the reference was to overtaking too ..... If so a gear change would be the quickest and cheapest way of eliminating!

I just put my foot down earlier to get the turbo spooling. By the time it's hit full boost, I'm usually in the other lane and accelerating past whatever was in front of me ;)

Ahh, it looked like overtaking.
I've been in a mates MN and the turbo lag isn't that bad, maybe a change in driving style is in order? If that fails upgrade to a ML

Chipit pretty much fixed it for me too.

I find the ASC off is better sometimes for taking off too. It really surges if it kicks in, especially in the wet

What's the biggest tyres I can fit on my MN when overtaking other cars while stationary?

You've got me there, I just can't come up with an answer for that one. So I'll fall back on an old one - use the search

Eep, made the same mistake

Taking off, I've found if you ride the clutch a little (or left foot brake) and build some boost, that works well. Tyres don't seem to agree though. 8-)

I have a combination of mod's which have made a huge difference :D . Can't really complain about lag now.
The voices in my head may not be real, but they do have some damned good ideas.

It's the one thing that I dislike about the tri. I find that if you drive it like two stroke. It works best if have traction control turned off though. So you don't over ridden. IMO

He already has in great detail in the respective threads, as well as others, in particular Tony.

Blocking the egr is one thread to read and learn more about the problem at hand.

Although the lag is evident on the MNs, you have to remember that the vehicle is a diesel powered 4x4 and not some sort of road racer. I have always had V8s and have quickly come to realise that my MN is a different beast. I just leave longer traffic gaps and try to anticipate traffic movements as you do not have the luxury of pulling out and flooring it with v8 power and expect to quickly merge into traffic.

So it's nearly 2015 now and my 4 month old manual is the same as yours in 2010.!!
Someone mentioned it was worse on roundabouts or something, That has been puzzling me since day one.
most times when turning a corner or roundabout it gets what i call "dead pedal" scares the shite out of me, lift the pedal and go down again maybe more gentle? and it starts to go. It seems to know that a large truck is bearing down on me. I might have to name it Christine.

I could probably live with the turbo lag and revs holing up on gear changes if it was constant but its never the same.
I am 59.Drove trucks for years and race speedway so i believe my gear changing skills are ok but i feel like a dill driving this thing.
It has 18000k's now after 4 months so im sure the ECU has had plenty of time to learn?
Any new news or ideas.??

I live in my Triton and need to solve these issues. Local dealer in Lismore says. All good so the implication is that im imagining it all.

Have you done the basic mods? Ie Tony's Mod, snorkel, higher flow air filter. Can't expect much if it's standard. When they are spooled up they pull better than most other similar class veh's out there.

Not sure if it would help, but you could slightly eliminate the lag by preloading the engine with anticipation of what the traffic is doing around you..

Ie, slight amount of throttle with the foot brake on as well to hold the car back? Might be worth your time practising before going out into heavy traffic

Just a thought
