sheepo I have a GME TX3440. This has all the controls in the mic, so I installed the radio behind the rear seat & installed a small external speaker where the ashtray used to be.

I mounted a GME aerial on the right hand side of the rear roll bar by a special bracket made from stainless for $20-00.

All works well.

ive fitted uhf s to my other fourbys but as i only use them when im tagging along with others i bought a uniden uh044.its ahandheld with a plug in microphone. the handheld bit can go on your belt or in your pocket and the mic clips on the front of your shirt. it works well in or out of the carand with the mic clipped on my shirt i find it easier to use.i paid $190 from dick smith and have found it to be the better option for my situation.

I have the Uniden UH400SX-RM uhf cb. It has all the controlls on the handset. Mounted under the drivers seat. Still havent really mounted the handset as the double sided tape isn't strong enough and I'm still deciding on if I want to drill holes to mount the bracket. Just have it coming out from under the seat and sitting in one of the drink holders for now.

Because i have two fourby's and don't want to mount 'real' uhf's in both, i'm looking at this.
Jaycar have a 3 watt handheld with a detachable antenna that can be changed out for a high gain magnetic base type
, used with a plug in microphone/speaker like julian uses

Uniden detachable speaker fits neatly under the steering wheel column above the pedals, there's a recess that seems to be made perfectly for it, also the detachable face is behind the gear stick below the ashtray... once again the perfect spot Mitsu has thought about this before.

just the hand piece is screwed in behind the 4x shifter, wrong spot should be other side... other than that is a sweet setup

Hey mate, i have a uniden uh7760n (from Prestige). My mate recently fitted it and the unit under the dash next to all the fuses near the steering wheel, still very easy to hear. The handset is currently sitting in the folds of the gearstick covers, but will soon be mounted to a bracket once my mate gets hold of one from his work. Great unit with all the controls and screen on the handset.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

I've got an Oricom unit with all controls on the mic. The main unit fits up behind the glove box. On the side of the heater unit I think is an electrical control box of some description. I was able to use the points it was mounted to for the bracket of the uhf as well. The mic cable just comes out under the dash to a clip either side of the central binnacle....Cheers Chris.
