She told me that she would sent out the replacement with money for the return item, which is exactly what she did.

It is a shame you guys have had such differing experiences in terms of service from them but my experience was exemplary, yes i had to make a few calls, send a few texts but no worse experience from other sellers on eBay.

Exemplary for me is everything goes perfectly with no interaction at all. I supply the cash and they supply the goods. No chase ups, no delays, no bullshit. I bought some stuff on ebay the other day and had it by lunchtime the next day - for me that's exemplary.

Thanks Quinny but the reason I sent mine back was because I had an ML one and they later released a different model for the MN.

Double Gauge Pillar Pod

Postby mattz on Tue Apr 28, 2015 6:25 pm

Well after almost 2 years I finally got around to ordering some gauges and installing the pillar pod.
Originally I was going to get some Autometer cobalt gauges but although I Iove the look of them I couldn't justify the cost. That might change if these cheap eBay ones crap themselves.
I really wanted something that matched the rest of the dash and I'm pretty happy with how these turned out. The rim around the edge of the gauge looks almost factory. :D
They have a smoked/tinted black lens until you turn the ignition on. 8-).

Now I'm off to install the breathers I bought in a group buy some time ago.
Unfortunately they only had a petrol boost gauge so it has vacuum as well.

Nah not really they're just below your line of sight.
I'd imagine if there was another gauge above it (triple gauge pillar pod) it would be worse as the third gauge would be right in the line of sight.

For us short asses anyway hey Tim. :P

x4.

i got a bit disappointed when i found out this basically goes over your existing trim (which needs to be cut up) rather than replacing the old one.

The pods seem a lot bulkier than what I'd thought the result would look link. The A pillars on the newer vehicles are already huge in cross section. New vehicles have gone a quantum keep backwards re visibility.

I don't think many recent designers/engineers are actually drivers from the results we're left with. As an example, when they designed the HQ holden, a design brief was that the A pillar couldn't cause a blind spot and the size and profile was build appropriately. Funny enough Ford tried something similar on the EA, ( I think) and they had to fill the pillar with resin as it was too weak. fraud crepe!

I didn't cut up my old one.....I just put a screw though it.
The bottom of it tucks in behind the dash so you only really need to secure the top and you could use double sided tape so not to damage the original moulding if you didn't want to damage it like I did.

With geek's we had to mod it quite a bit. Might be a choice of gauges thing. Where did you run the wiring?

Between the original and the new double gauge one and then there was enough room between where the dash and the pillar meet.

Finally got around to installing my double gauge pillar mount.

Used SAAS EGT and Boost gauges. Got the ones with the black background and white lettering so suits the MN dash. When they light up you can choose the colour from white, red, blue and green.
All the wiring is available from behind the RV meter but I had to add approx 560 ohms of resistance to the illumination cct so they were not as bright. Think I need to add some more as it is still a little bright.
I purchased a sacrificial A pillar trim from my local pick-a-part wrecker for $5. Cut this up to fit the gauges and I will eventually glue these two trims together as I did not want the supplied fixings on display with the finished product. They are a little crappy.
As I said, I still have to glue the two trims together to finish it off, but very happy so far. I have the two held together with a bulldog clip to check fitment.
The gauges work a treat.
Very happy.
