Many times I've read about people having problems fitting fridges under their hard lids so originally I had a custom soft tonneau made and it had served me well over the last 3 years, all but the leaks that I could never stop
I'm not a massive fan of the canopy on a mn so decided the time had come to get a hard lid and deal with the fridge problem afterwards.
I scored and fitted a 2nd hand lid a couple of weeks ago and took to measuring in various positions to see if I could get my 80ltr waeco to fit. Being the 2nd largest on the market I was sure I was going to have to downgrade to a smaller size but on much research it turned out this fridge is actually one of the lowest in height.
The only position that ended up suiting was dead centre and and a small amount of modding was needed .
There are 2 ridges that run from the centre that need to be ground back flat and that's it
Lid down
And this is a view at how close the fit is
Their would bee a bees d... In it and when the hard lid is locked the fridge doesn't move at all but I will still strap it to the existing tie downs in the tub.
Future mod will be to remove the rubber foot mounts and put some nylon strips in place and a thin layer of gal sheeting in the lower ribs of the tub and hope this will work for a slide, if I don't try I'll never know.
Very easy job and I'm happy I can keep the big fridge
