cleaning intake manifold

Postby wakesetter21 on Mon Apr 06, 2015 6:39 pm

Hi all
had a bit of a search around, and cant find much about things to do whilst I have the injector lines off, and cleaning the intake manifold.
Ive heard that I should replace the upper timing belt guide, and adjust the tappets

Im after info on what I should do, while I have it all apart, as well as any parts you guys think I should replace at the same time. including gaskets, that probably wont survive being put back together.
Cheers Dan

How many kilometres done? Service history? The 4M41 in Pajeros is currently being recalled for a timing chain guide problem but that doesn't apply to Tritons. If you have an MN then periodic replacement of the belt idlers is advised.

Might as well do the tappets while you're in there. Probably fuel pump filter as well if you're going to make it a major service. Check SCV - any problems that you've experienced?

Make sure that you put those injector lines back on very carefully and torque exactly to specs. Check the back of your Service Book. It will show if they've been removed before. 5 times is the limit. After that they're throwaway..

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

And your gaskets for the manifolds will usually be re-useable.
