Window cleaning Tip

A lot of owners spend a lot of time cleaning and polishing the paint. But neglect the windows. A Good window clean can make your truck look spick.

If you do not have time to wash your truck but need it looking good quick, try just giving the windows a quick clean. You will be amazed how much better your truck looks.

Use a dab of turps and go over windows to remove bug marks, grease, wax etc. Then go over again with window Cleaner and a window cloth. Remember window cleaners with ammonia will lift tint.

You can also make your own. Water and ammonia, water and vinegar. Water and metho. Main thing is a quality window cloth.

Also chuck a dab of detergent in you washer. Will prolong the life of your wipers. ;)

Cars look sshmick with clean glass don't they. Have a look at youtube. There are heaps of window cleaning tips, a couple of sites advocate using superfine 4 xxxx grade steel wool. Go over the screen using it dry then 2 coats of Rainex then a final going over with Invisible glass. I tried it & it 's as good as I've ever seen. Don't use steel wool inside on the tint though, good old fashioned Mr Sheen original formula is pretty good, smells great too.

I've seen where detailers keep their old clay bars for the glass work. Much finer than steel wool. Agree with the rainX.

Mazing how well the rains works when you get it right. Can just about get away without wipers.

I usually polish the outside of the side and rear windows when doing the body and this helps keep the side glass cleaner longer.

I get good results with plain old windex and a microfibre cloth.

Not too much windex, and if the windows are seriously grubby or you saturate the cloth, a second fresh microfibre cloth.

Can't have too many microfibre towels!

Has anyone got a tip for cleaning/polishing the black wiper arms? Mine are looking matte and almost textured now.

I only ever use H2O and a bit of elbow grease followed up by a squeegee. There are additives for the washer bottle you can waste money on but I find that so long as the wiper blades are replaced regularly they, too are unnecessary.

Handy Andy (ammonia) used to work best for getting the bug guts off the windscreen, but is also a good vector to rust if not rinsed well.

I use a window additive that Supercheap sell as a bulk pack and a shot of turtle wax car wash in the wash bottle, smells great when your giving the screen a squirt :)

Agree with kwyjibo on the wiper arm resto - satin black is the solution to many parts.

I just add a splash of windex to the washer bottle cleans windscreen good and makes the glass dry quick and streak free which is one of my many pet peeves.

I used one of the magic erasers on my windscreen last week and the glass was the clearest its ever been. For over six years with nearly 170k on the clock the screen will see at least another year.

I gave it another wash with the eraser pad and then rainex to get a great finish.

I wouldn't put steel wool on a windscreen, or any other glass - risking big scratching.

The white eraser pads are nano foamed melamine and work like a micro scourer.

Be interesting to try a patch on the paint to compare with claying.
