Ooohhh man, now I have to ask.......

Where did you get the console from and how much?

I was hoping to just have a small slit to fit it.... That looks MUCH neater.

You can fully customise these, tell them what radio you have and they shape to fit, plus other mod's if wanted.

Also; use search function...overhead+consoles

Does anyone know if its possible to install a full DIN sized UHF in this spot? If so, how hard is it to remove the trim and get to it?

Yes it can be done. You have to remove the plastic panel above the pedals, then loosen and partly remove the panel under the steering column where it overlaps the centre dash panel. Then open the glovebox and look for screws on the right which secure the centre panel. Once you're sure it's all free the centre trim will pull off towards the back of the car. Note that the courtesy light above the cigarette lighter is a 1/4 turn to release when you get your hand in behind. The cigarette lighter has a plug on the back which should pull off. Cant remember the back of the rear window switch but there should be enough slack to pivot the panel down out of the way. Then remove the dash pocket and replace with your UHF mount and put it together again after sorting out your wiring

I just put a Icom 400 in the same spot.
As Cowboy Dave said, it is easy to remove the trim, remember to remove your ash tray and watch the clips that hold surround trim in place if you take it off a few times they may come lose and fall behind.
I found I needed extra bolts and nuts, and had to drill a few holes to mount the unit to the left and right brackets that hold the pocket in place when using the Icom single DIN kit.

UHF in overhead console (better)

Chris

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?
