Undertray water tank

Undertray water tank

Postby subi_man on Tue Apr 07, 2009 2:52 pm

It's been a little quiet at work, and I've been meaning to make up some sort of water-tank for handwashing, dog watering, emergency etc.

Made this out of 100mm sewer pipe, to fit on top of the towbar. The fuel filters are for the air to escape when filling from the bottom outlet. Holds a reasonable amount 8-) I also plan on making a custom "ARB style" rear bumper, so the factory bumper will be staying off.

Cheers

Nice work Subi. How are you planning to fix it there? Strapped to the tow bar or do you have some ingenious method in mind? :)

Yeah jop, it's always dirty, shows it's a working truck tho... right?!! (or am I the laziest owner here?!!!)

Sapient, nothing ingenious - I will strap it to the towbar with industrial zipties, or stainless strap - even if these break it can't fall out while the spare-tyre is in place 8-)

I reckon it holds about 12-14litres fonz, but will measure it out one day soon so I know myself.

Cheers

I've got something similiar i made up a little while ago and has come in very handy. i ended up using some atlas copco straps to hold it in place. Only thing i have found so far is that the water does get quite warm when on the highway, which means the pooch won't drink it

Good idea fellas.

Kev did you make yours out of 'sewer' pipe as well? Maybe that's why the dog wont drink it :P :P

I think someone asked what the tank capacity was? I just filled it and decanted exactly 10litres from it 8-)

Cheers!
