Good one!

Now the million dollar question, does anyone know if the upholstery unzips/clips easily off our seats, I have 2 layers of seat covers on mine...wouldn't mind giving just the lumbar bit a quick go for starters.
I hate to advocate drugs, sex, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they’ve always worked for me.

They are definately zipped at the back this is why I found it so easy to modify them.

The first thing I did was lumber support then later the side bolsters ;)

The pics have made me a little more game to give mine a go like you did Sam.
I'll start with the little lumbar though....Sam was your lumbar support about the same as in the pics?
Oh..and any pitfalls to look out for?

Cheers

Ok looked at the site and one thing I tend to disagree on a bit is when you add foam or trim it with a electric bread knife
any roughness in the finish tends to show up so I found it best to get as neat /smooth finish as poss ;)

When you unzip the back egdes down along the bottom egde you will find steel ring grips just cut these off with a good pair of side cutters and replace with zip ties when you put it back together.

Also the best way I found to give more lumbar support was to use a very high density foam as the only place to put a packer is in front of a steel rod which runs across the seat back down low ;)

I used surfboard foam in mine and has worked a treat :D
I didn't add foam for the bolstering instead used a plastic packing system I came up with to push the original side bolsters
forward and in a little then trimed the foam from the back of the seat where it wrapped around the frame to allow the cover to go back on nicely . ;)
Hope this helps mate

Thanks mate! I wouldn't have thought to use solid surfboard style foam.

Well done mate. I was going to attack the seats on the first available weekend.
I'll check out getting that lumbar in from the US as I have the thinnest inflatable I could find and it's nowhere near as good as that. 8-)

I hope it works out for you on the 3.2 Gabriel!

that's the bodgest job ive seen , to shape and get a nice fit you need to shape the additional pieces of foam much better or there will be ridges through the cover (ideally to do properly you have to alter the cover to shape to the new bolsters but thats another issue) if your going to shape your self use a hand held cheese grater this way you can shape the foam to give it a smooth texture , then you put a layer of thin 6 or 8mm cerex foam over it glued on going right up the foam side panel
