A quick random question. I recently purchased the SPVi EGR Module Mk3.1 plug and play. from tony at SPV industries. For some reason I thought that it was going to be a module that plugged into the EGR valve, hoever found out when i got it that is plgs into the MAF sensor.
Now i understand that the MAF sensor measures the amount of air flow going into the engine, which then provides information to the ECU for fuel control, Correct ?
What i though the module i got from tony would do is to shut off my EGR valve, therefore preventing carbon build up. What i do not quite uinderstand is how this module does this when it is plugged into the MAF sensor.
Can someone clarify for me how Tonys module works? and what exactly it does?? (very happy with my purchase just want to know the ins and outs hahaha)
DISCLAIMER - I have very BASIC knowledge of engines so the answer to this is probably very obvious.
Cheers

It's a 3.2l
Obviously my car is out of warrenty
It has 170'000 kms and is 07
So that being not a concern, what am 8 up for
I see you can drill a hole in the throttle butterfly, or run a separate pipe from the cooler to the intake somewhere
What's the most reliable or easiest way to stop the cel coming on,
and if it comes on will I need a scan tool to remove it?
I have one of those Bluetooth obd2 readers for android
What else am I up against, cos I'm thinking block it at the exhaust, drill hole in butterfly and anything else I should be aware of short of reading the 402849264 pages on the main post? Thanks

dont do it, no need anymore, better solution available.Obviously my car is out of warrenty

initially you will be up for about a thousand bucks worth of work to pull the manifolds off and have them cleaned and refitted because if your truck is throwing codes (map pressure codes that is) the manifold is already blocked. alternatively you can do it yourself if you have the tools/skill/patience and a spare weekend. there is a great downloadable guide to cleanign the manifolds with lots of pics.I see you can drill a hole in the throttle butterfly, or run a separate pipe from the cooler to the intake somewhere
definitely not any of these. What's the most reliable or easiest way to stop the cel coming on,
again firstly you will likely need the have the manifolds cleaned before you can apply the preventative solution.and if it comes on will I need a scan tool to remove it?
yes you willI have one of those Bluetooth obd2 readers for android
get free "torque" software and you can read and clear CELsWhat else am I up against, cos I'm thinking block it at the exhaust, drill hole in butterfly and anything else I should be aware of short of reading the 402849264 pages on the main post? Thanks
just look for the section regarding the resistor in the maf circuit. this is where the preventative solution is documented.

I'm not afraid to tackle a soldering iron, isn't tonys mod which I can't find for love nor money in here only $50
Or even if I knew what resistor to out where I can do it myself haha

in a nutshell if you are comfortable and posses the electrical aptitude do it yourself,
if your a desk jockey with no friends with electrical aptitude pay the man for the fool proof ( almost ) $150 kit,

I linked you to a second hand "Tony Mod" $35 posted I have one. I plan on taking it out for the plug and play version.
The best thread on the DIY version IMHO is in the Challenger section of a well know Victorian Pajero forum. A resistor of 6.8 is too much YMMV

All I know is that is the best thread I have read on installing a resistor to a Challenger or Triton.
It explains quite well how to pick a resister value.
Threads on here are lacking and confusing.
I am past caring what people do. Knock yourself out on 6.8 not for me. YMMV
