CAD Drawings/Designs/Templates

Postby SinWolf on Sun Jan 23, 2011 11:35 pm

Hi Guys...

Why don't we start a section where we upload our CAD Drawings/Designs/Templates for fellow members to use ??

Designs of whatever you made for your Triton....

I'm for instance busy with drawings in CAD for rockslider brackets.... These drawings can then be used to laser cut the necessary steel in order to fabricate your own rocksliders...

I also made a template in CAD to be used to cut out new fender covers, covering more than the original covers did... (I had to make new covers after the body lift). This CAD drawing is for a 45mm body lift, but it can easily be changed to accommodate any body lift (or no body lift)....

Original covers...

So what do you guys think ?????

Here's some updated links from the fridge magnet:

Maybe the mods could move this as the first post or something and then keep adding to it as we get more files/pics to keep it a bit easier to find the links?? Am happy to take responsibility for it and keep it updated as required.

Other than the pics, I have copied all the downloads into my dropbox to make things a bit easier. If you guys who put the pics up don't mind, I'll add them to my dropbox too (and resize any as necessary) to keep them and save you the photobucket space if you don't want to host them forever ;)

Can you please send me a pm if you DON'T want your pics hosted on my dropbox or want them edited prior to being hosted. I will grab them and put them in there in 2 weeks if I don't hear from you :P

Have also sent a pm to kneebs to see if he is still willing to share the ML vector drawing as it is no longer hosted at filefactory ;)

I reckon your on the money. After this weekend theres lots of blokes after sliders, and if you can put up the CAD, you will save your fellow triton owners bucketloads of $. Cant wait to see your finished sliders, as i am in need.

Great idea mate!

I like that fender cover idea too...stops heaps more mud and water spraying into the engine bay etc 8-)

If people want to post their templates in here, we will clean the thread up and keep it in order.

I'd merge them but really don't have a clue where they all may be...the guys that did them would be best able to find and post them here for a later cleanup

Mate between this and the steering column thing the other day, I think you're a genius.

Must be hundreds of guys on here with lifts and I've never heard of this idea, but once I see it it seems oh so obvious.

What did you make your cover things out of? Would be interested in doing something similar on mine, anything to reduce the mud and dirt that gets into the engine bay I reckon.

Dave, suspension lifts don't need this mod specifically, but body lifts do.

Neverless as homer has said could provide better coverage and the drawing can be changed to suit.

Ok

Where can we "easily" host these drawing files ?? (unfortionally, this forum does not have the function to "attach" documents :( )

I will start by uploading the "Wheel Arch Cover" template... All you do is, print it out on scale 1:1

Cut out the template with scissors, put it on a sheet of 3mm rubber mat, mark down the template, and cut the 3mm rubber mat with scissors...

Cool

Mods could do it. Platinum subscribers can upload too. Almost warrants its own little area though. Not quite sure where to put it.

We've got Brett's centre bearing thing. Maybe Buzzy's plates. Sinwolf's rubber thing and soon some sliders.

Can anyone think of any others?

I did a write up on my centre bearing mod. Do we want the write-up added or just the CAD file placed in here. My thoughts are to add the write up and file together, all in one place. Maybe rename it something like "Members Downloadable CAD Files and Write-up". I'm happy to go along with the consensus on this one

Might be easier with the CAD files and just a link to the write up? Otherwise the thread will end up quite long. That way the thread runs more like a quick index to where the other stuff is. If it's going to be this thread then we'll have to delete all of the stuff I said above, so delete away mods once we've worked it all out.

CAD Drawings/Designs/Templates

Postby fridgie on Mon Jan 24, 2011 5:40 pm

I was kinda thinking like the trading post section....

For example.....

Modification - Buzzy's bash plates
CAD File - (insert file here)
Write-up/Instructions - (insert thread link here)
Tools/Abilities required - (insert list here)
Difficulty Rating - (in reference to a non skilled person ie: doesn't do that kinda thing for a living)

What do you guys think?
I'm not so good with the advice  ... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment???

I like it. Maybe a fabrication price estimate as well? or that can appear in the thread. either way it'll be one of the first things you'd want to know.

Hi,

CAD files are usually not too big.. The Wheel Ach cover file is around 110Kb.

If it's too much efford to clean up this tread, then we can just start a new one ?? Maybe consider a sticky ??

I'm glad that other feel the same about sharing their work !!!

Guys...

For those of you that does not have access to a CAD drawing package...

This should be sufficient for your designs...

A FREE CAD package :)

Progecad from Progesoft is free for personal use.

I use this at home. Almost can't tell the difference between that and Autocad
