MN Foot Rest

MN Foot Rest

Postby melba on Mon Jun 27, 2011 6:04 pm

If anyone is interested i installed a foot rest today. I was getting annoyed of the wear and tear of work boots on the carpet, i still can't believe no proper foot rest comes with the truck. Anyway i got a foot rest from Repco for $15 and took 1 minute to install. It said not to use self tappers or screws only the bolts they supplied and double sided tape. I ignored that and used screws. :D

That's neat. Good idea!

Brilliant, was pissed off for the very same reason and looked at sourcing the foot rest from the ML from mitsi but it is a glue on unit.
Great idea, have a spare lying in the garage somewhere from my sons wrecked car, now I just have to find it.

I just glued some heavy Ribbed rubber to mine, about the 2nd day after delivery.

But I really like the alloy unit.

Fantastic idea! After seeing this thread I ordered an ally one like above from china for $10, four self tappers later it is a great mod that is used every time you jump in the truck.

There really should be one there tho. Pretty piss poor by the manufacturer, of course the carpet will wear out in no time without something there.

I went the other way on my ml. The footrest gobbles up a chunk of the foot well space and my knee was killing me after a longer drive resting on the rest. I trimmed about 40mm off the thickness of the foam block under the carpet and can now stretch out my left leg without "pedal tangle". There's still enough of a step to prop your self when needed.

Is it just metal floor pan under the carpet there? if your using self tappers will they just rust out from underneath the car?

No its like a foam bloke.

Thinking about it, I'm 6'4" with a large foot, I could do with some extra leg/foot room haha might take it out or decrease it's size.

You'd find it much better thinned down Tuff.

These footrests are put there for the folk that can barely reach the pedals.
