Size: 265/70/17
Brand: Mickey Thompson
Style: Baja MTZ
Handle on road: So far, fairly good - really quite noisy
Handle off Road: TBA
Wear & Tear: Not sure how many km's they've done but still looking quite good
Price: ?? - These are on loan from Snowman ( cheers mate ;) )
Does Spare fit Y/N: Yes
Overall Diameter: Not sure

I dont know if I would go for this tyre as most of my driving is on the blacktop, but I certainly would like a tyre that will perform really well off-road in mud etc. Its a toss up between ATZ 4 Rib, BFG A/T's or maybe Maxxis tyres...just not sure, so any suggestions would be helpful. :D I guess the other alternative is to buy a set of 16" steelies & put swampies on them!!

Just got rid of my 265/70/17 MTZ's at 22,000kms
All good, down to about 10mm tread, were starting not to perform as well in the bush as previous. not being able to clear mud as well as they used to.

Replaced with the new Goodyear MTR kevlar. This is a different looking tyre to say the least.
They are asymmetrical, with a all terrain inside and mud terrain outer.

Size: 265/70/17
Brand: Goodyear
Style: MTR kevlar
Handle on road: I havn't driven the car yet- the wife took it away for the weekend  , first impressions are the same as the MTZ's
Handle off Road: TBA
Wear & Tear: Not sure
Price: ?? - $370/ tyre
Does Spare fit Y/N: Yes
Overall Diameter: 32"
Oh there not officially released as yet- I must of hounded the right stores to get them sent up from Melbourne.

Adz, I too am in the same predicament. The choice of tyres for the 17" rim is not very good. So after many hours of reading everyone thoughts on here, on other forums, asking mates and ringing different tyre places I have decided to go with the MT ATZ 4 rib. I have only read and heard good reports of these tyres and I know the size is a bit large at 805mm (265/70/17), but I figured what the hell, I'm not going to worry about the 5mm difference. These are good tyres and will serve me well on and off the road. So bugger the price I was quoted ($347) per tyre i'm getting them. I hope you just bite the bullet and choose some. Now I'm off to do my tax return and getting them. spinner

These tyres are made by continental tires. and are cheap. around the $200 mark delivered. not sure what they are like though they look good enough and have 13.5mm of tread so they are comparable to the mickey thompsons. :?

Sheepo, you could always go with the 265/70/16 in the Grabber AT if you're concerned about the load rating...these have a SL load rating.

I checked a set of them yesterday at my local Beaurepaires (265/75 R16, he had 4 in stock). $420 each!   He would come down to $400 each when I told him Mickey T MTZ's were only $320 each.

End result............................No Wranglers for me!

Mine are in 17" size and were cheaper than that (usually $50-100 dearer for the privelage of running 17" rims)
mind you the best I could get mickey thompson's in 265/70/17 was $370 for the ATZ and $390 for the MTZ.

What Size? 265/75R16

Brand? Mickey Thompson

Style? (L/T,A/T, Claws, M/T) All- Terrain (more like half way between a Muddie and an All-Terrain I think)

Handle on Road? (Grip/noise) On road, so far very happy, slight noise between 80 and 100

Handle off road? (Grip/Noise) Haven't got there yet only had them on for a day

Price per tyre? (if you want) $300

Wear & Tear? (how are they wearing) Unknown
