I am just about ready to upgrade the satndard tyres as a lot of you have done and a lot want to, so i thought if we setup a few standard questions it might make deciding on brand, Style and size easier.
(feel free to add more info of questions if you think)

What Size?

Brand?

Style? (L/T,A/T, Claws, M/T)

Handle on Road? (Grip/noise)

Handle off road? (Grip/Noise)

Price per tyre? (if you want)

Wear & Tear? (how are they wearing)

king I just bought Ypkohama Geolanders ATS 245/75/16. 10 ply rating.

Handling on road better than stardard tyres. Very little noise.

Not been off road yet.

$252 each.

Too early to tell only on the car 3 weeks.

265x75 R16

Dick Cepek FC II

There's a little bit more noise on the black stuff than the original rubber, but I definately wouldn't call them noisy at all, handle well in the dry and wet.

Offroad - love em! Just need to get out there and use them a bit more.

$288 or $290 per tyre from memory, it was a couple of months back.

Wear & Tear - They's done about 3500K's so not much to go on, but they still look like their brand new.

225 etc is the width- the 75 etc is the wall height ie 75% of the width

Capitalisation (n), is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse.

Size: 265/75 R16 10ply

Brand: Cooper

Style: STT (M/T)

Handle on Road: OK dry road grip, average wet road grip. They squeel like crazy when pushed to their limit around corners. A little noisy, like a constant rumble in the background of the diesel clatter.

Handle off road: Once you head offroad with mud tyres there is no going back! Excellent!

Price per tyre: $255

Wear & Tear: Done 15000km and they would be worn about 4mm, I expect to get about 45000 to 50000km before they are too worn for offroad and wet road performance and its time for a new set. No chipping at this stage.

Would I buy again: Yes

Ok
-SIZE 265/75/16
-BRAND Mickey Thompson
-TYPE Baja ATZ 4 bar (more like an MTZ)
-STUFF Look shit hot, 33 mm higher groun clearance, speedo reads one k under actual speed by GPS.
-ON ROAD Handleing well so far even in an emergency swerve with a boat on the back. Cant get them to squeal on take off at the lights like ht so grippy and they hang in on some 100 k corners. Whine a bit but they dont howl . (But I have yet to do one of my Colac to Apollo Bay runs, that will be the real test), . Not driven in the wet yet
OFF ROAD Going out in the mud at the end of the month so will know then.
Should cost 290 ea I believe
Only been on for 1400 k so the tits have just only gone, supposed to get 80000
Would I buy again, time will tell

Size? 265/70/17. (on original alloys) Spare fits no problem.
Brand? Mickey Thompson MTZ.
Style? LT,MT/ AT,10ply.
Handle on road? Great(dry), Noisy- a bit (a very soft compound time will tell if it will last)
Handle off road? Great Noisy- who cares
Price? $1180 for 5 with $100ea trade in on the original tyres (I think that was $335 each?)
Wear&Tear? only done 1,000km front and rear still look new, some of the mould marks still remain.

Purchased from Fourby's Morooka Brisbane- one of the only tyre places in Brisbane that will do a trade.

BTW- I got 5 alloys with my GXL-r 2008 update, was/is this standard or did I get lucky?

Size: 265/75 LT R16
Brand:Cooper
Style: ATR
Handle on road: Very Good (not much noisier than the factory ones)
Handle off Road: Very Good on dirt / gravel (also go ok on the sand)
Wear & Tear: Wear excellent, after 33k (just done rotation)still more than 50%-60% on front tyres and even more on rear's Noticed that the grooves cut in the tread blocks retain small stones (this led to a chip on one edge block tearing back (Stone retention between treads isn't too bad though) Only one puncture in 33K of use (that was a large nail)
Price: $300.00 fitted & Balanced ea
Does Spare fit Y/N: Yes (on steel rims can't say on Alloy for those who might have alloy spares)
Overall Diameter: haven't checked (32or33 inch there abouts) but more than an inch lift under the diff from factory rubbish tyres and no issues on rubbing or clearance even before suspension lifted,

in time might get 17'' x 8'' steel rims and try some STT's (for bush use only hoping to get 285/75 R17 LT (if they'll fit )
Live life now, Tomorrow might not get here

KB9t
Size:265x75/16
Brand:BFG
Style:AT
Handle on road: shyt noisy after 40000km (fitted from new)
Handle off Road: already got 1 mystery slow puncture... Find the pile a bit square, easier to spin, possible harder compound? Haven't had any sticky's yet. Waiting for summer and rain.
Wear & Tear: average. bit religious about pressure maintenance and rotation. got about 70% left. R&B every 10k. anything above 2 bar and the edges are off. The Twin-axle delivery trailer is about 700kg and balanced well, so not much extra load on the ball.
Price: ZAR...
Does Spare fit Y/N: yip. spare's a steel rim tho.
Overall Diameter: :?:

1st set of BFG's I've played with. Not very impressed on the road, bit hard for the likes. Shyt in the rain...

old KB7t
Size: 31x10.5/15
Brand: Bridgestone
Style: ATX
Handle on road: F1? MOTOgp? 120000km / set. ABS Worked a lot less then the Triton's on or off...
Handle off Road: awer
Wear & Tear: Same as above. KB7t had the torsion bars instead of Dual A on thr Triton, dunno if that's of any consequence tho...
Price: Less ZAR than BFG
Does Spare fit Y/N: Y
Overall Diameter: :?:

All that being said, I'll will definitely try stones agian. Always liked potenza's on the vw16v and the vtec. also couldn't stay away from bridgestones on the blade too.

maybe a bit biased??

What Size? 265/75 - 16

Brand? Federal Couragia

Style? (L/T,A/T, Claws, M/T) M/T - 8ply tread, 3ply sidewall

Handle on Road? (Grip/noise) Good road manners for an aggressive M/T, noise is shart as you like...

Handle off road? (Grip/Noise) Sensational grip off road (Andersons track, Gembrook) after a week of rain, the old girl walked up it on the Couragias...

Price per tyre? (if you want) $225 from Widetread, Ferntree Gully

Wear & Tear? (how are they wearing)I change between stockers and off-road wheels/tyres so wear isn't a factor for me...
