Ahh. Just saw the second page

Well done

I was looking at those or Simex extremes.

Might give them a miss now. 4WD26 did similar damage with his Simex extremes

I have been running 33" BFG KM2's on my stock ML rims for about 40-45000 k's now.

I did not have to modify anything to stop scrubbing. I have 2" lift.

I have not broken a Cv joint.

My brake lines a stock, no problems with braking or length.

My fuel usage is [censored] heaps (don't care, I get about 400-450 before light comes on) - that's on the odometer, so with the bigger tyres I'm guessing I get further than what is registered.

Tricky has been running BFG in the 33"s for around 5 years- only done the one CV that I know of and near 200,000kms.
He has also got these engineered ;)

it can be done- no one disputed that- just be aware that some people have done some damage to the driveline,

Although (I cannot see the image- work access restrictions) but if stefanos has done (snapped) the main input shaft into the front diff- I twisted that before I had the front locker and maybe only 2 trips with the simex (these measure 850mm so larger diameter than the 285/75/16 tyres)

who can say what the cause was, but be prepared to have to spend money on the driveline at some stage- just saying

Not having a go at anyone- and I believe this is the point a few of the long termers were trying to make.

these utes are getting cheap, it is real easy to fit 33" tyres, its the potential and the "bad image" this could do to the triton if it goes wrong and someone wants it to go Viral (like all tritons have a week chassis  )

this thread tells it like it is- yes they can fit- they may cause you damage, $$$$ - you have been warned

Remember I'm a advacate of larger tyres (running 34" play tyres), and have spend a fortune on this ute in terms of fine tunning the suspension, tyres, wheel offsets.

And have also had to do a fair few repairs, 3 CV's, 1 main shaft in the front diff- it's only money ;)

Good work stefanos. You do not mind the loud pedal, I like that! The input shaft... not so much :P

Very interesting info.

I went for 33's because I like the look and the extra clearance I get in the sand!!

Mine measure up as a 34.3" tyre . Running 0 offset wheel

Minor rubbing issue was sorted at the high country trip.

Haven't noticed any change in fuel economy or drive ability

Look's good Tuff Troop!! 8-) Will you run them all the time or are these just play shoes?

I would only consider going 33's if I could find lower diff ratio's. ;)

Wouldn't you go higher ratios to offset the power robbing effect of the larger rolling diameter?

No mate, you need low ratio gears to offset the larger rolling diameter of larger tyres. You just had the terminology around the wrong way. ;)

the bigger the number the lower the ratio. lower numbers mean a 'taller' diff (less RPM for the same speed).
