Kouta, been a month since you painted em, how are they holding up? I am seriously thinking of painting mine. In fact I already have the paint...

Hey mate, took the pic below last week. They see a bit of dirt and rocks when I visit project sites. No blemishes or scratches at all. The only thing I noticed was the front ones looked a bit dull but it's due to the disc brake dust. I sprayed em with decreaser and it cleaned it up without removing the paint. pheew...Was a bit worried.

Awesome! That was my main concern. Go off roading and leave the paint behind. I am 2 wheels down, 2 to go. Did you clear coat them?

No clear coat for mine. They've already got a nice sheen to them without being shiny. I figured using subframe paint it would hold up to some abuse. So far so good.

I look forward to seeing some pics when you're done :D

How did you paint them? did you take the tires off or painted with them on the truck/ute?

thanks for the pics, been thinking about it on mine, silver wheels just look dirty all the time
as previously stated COB (clear over base)
someone mentioned powder coating, yep its tough but wont have as good UV stability

Hey tommy, I took off 2 wheels at a time. (Bought some jack stands) Layed them in the backyard and put a sheet over both of them. Cut out holes around the rims and used thick masking tape. Before and after pic below

Yeah I was interested in powder coating but not at the cost. Massive hassle having to remove the tyres and take in the rims or take the car in and let them do it. But not cheap that way.

Also gave me a reason to buy an air compressor and some jack stands

Here are a few pics of my finished product. Got a few surface scratches on the weekend when I was off road north of Two Rocks.

They've come up great. Black rims look so much better in my opinion.

Did you paint the nuts black too?

I did paint my nuts...

I was worried about them as I torqued them up but the paint held. Did you buy black ones for yours? I think it may be better as the tyre bloke won't be as cautious as i was. Next will be the nudge bar and sports bars.
