36 Summer and 38 Winter with 33's

32 - 34 with 31's or 32's

unloaded....

When going 4x4... can drop to as low as 12 or 8 if desperate with the 33's. normally use 20 - 18 dependant on terrain..

Are all you guys checking these pressures when tyre is cold or already warmed up. I work on cold pressures allowing the tyre will heat up and the pressure will go up a few psi, ie - 32 front & rear unloaded when cold allowing that the tyre will be around 35-36 psi once the heat builds up in the tyre. Is this the correct thing to do?
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything important, it's too late to stop reading it.

I've been running both front and back at 40 all the time (load or unloaded) on my standard Bridgestone HTs. I like the firm ride.

Since letting the van off Apoll, I left the rears at 40. Seems ok at this stage.

As for hot n cold...I drive to the servo and put the air in or out. Sometimes with my T-Max Compressor

I´m running 235/85-16 KM2 at 35psi, still feel those too firm, but I won´t throw to the air any of that nitrogen they put in, no way! :(

my idiot dealer put in 50psi all round. I can't begin to fathom how anyone could put 50psi in these tyres when the placard clearly says 29. :o I spent a week thinking I must have bought the hardest riding truck in the country  . now running about 32psi and it has made a world of difference. :)

I have roadstone M/t's in a 32", have to run them at 40psi to keep the fuel economy at a reasonable rate, drop them to 25 the second I hit a dirt road or offroad,

on smaller stock tyres I'd say anything above 30psi would be perfect, any lower and you'll wear out the outside edges of the tyre too fast. Just go up by 2 psi every week until you find what you like.

mIwoo I reckon it depends on load. Homer runs a petrol donk and tray back which is likely often empty. My guess is the diesel might be slightly heavier?

I run the 694 and tend to carry too much weight and barwork etc. for me 36-38 is about the mark, usually with a bit more in the rear for weight and as above another few psi if towing as well.

Yes...CD would have the heaviest Triton in existence  and I agree completely with load V pressure.

However I still think most people run way too high in tyre pressures, same as they do on sand for some weird "I once read about" reasons
For example you will leave every tyre shop and dealers at 40psi plus and those pressures are simply incorrect for any vehicle besides a truck unless you are putting a ton in the back. I understand the tyre shop as that is purely for balancing but not sure why the dealers insist on doing it :? maybe the same reason they always hit you up for windscreen wiper blades

I think this pressure/performance topic was discussed waaaaay back and members did proper driving tests and altered pressures by approx 2 psi and re drove stretches of road, 34 seemed to be the ideal pressure for tyre performance...mine is. In fact the 2 psi difference was significant, like the tyre came into its own with the last 2 psi down to 34 ;) As for wear I can't comment on that, but my 694's running mostly around 34 got me an easy 100K...but they were regularly rotated which I think makes the difference (along with wheel alignments).

However that sweet spot pressure would also change with brands and styles...and performance is objective. I mean people run MT's on the road and talk about 'performance' so you can pretty much ignore any road manners/performance comments from them :P

I've been running 40 all round for a while now. After reading the last few comments, I may try dropping down to a more regular 34 and see what happens...

I run 39 front and 37 rear mostly highway 2wd GLX. I've upgraded the shocks with Ultimate allround but standard springs. No bars or load just the bald fat man behind the wheel. :D

These pressures seem to give the best feel on the roads round CQ

hmmm... cheers fellas.

yeah, they came with 34 in them but they front felt too spongy. upped them this morning to see what I can do. i usually run mine mostly empty, so run 2 psi less in the back tyres.

i might aim for 36 and see how I go

Why do Tyre shops and Stealers put in 40psi... :?: Simply to ensure that you will wear out the centre of the tread on your expensive new set of tyres as fast as humanly possible, and hence, have to come back to them sooner, for yet another set ... 35psi front, and 34psi rear, is my own preferred recipe, for the standard set of 'skinny-minnies' on my unladen, single cab MN... ;)
