Tyre techs fit new tyres with 40 psi to seat the bead and ensure no leaks from the bead....given it takes some time for the tyre to seat and settle to its new shape...

I run at 35psi for 60% of tyre life then go 50psi for the next 40%. It keeps the side tred happy? Get really good life out of the BF Goodrichs

Are they the L/T construction?
I found they have a stiffer side wall than my Micky Thompson MTZs and require less pressure.
I would run the MTs at 50 (rear)towing the van and now run the 697s at 40.
Around town 35 all round. For me, that's plenty and a like a firmer ride.

It blew me away when i first got them. I even towed the van at 35. :o
If I did that with the MTs on, the back of the triton would be squirming around everywhere.
I'm a big fan of the 697s now I've put them through their paces.

Bloody dealers punched ours up to 40psi at the 1500km "free" service. Made it feel like a bloody tractor on the road.

For reference, we transferred he D697's (245/70/16) off the 2010 MN onto the 2015 MN when we swapped cars over about 3 weeks ago. From the outset, the 2015 MN felt great, but after the service, it was going to be sold ... so rough, bumpy and really felt like a tractor.

Very annoying.

Just another one of the MANY issues from the service.

I run mine at 40 to keep them off the edges to an extent, I see too many cars with worn edges and good centers, I can put up with the slightly harsher ride while knowing that I won't have to replace tyres prematurely due to worn edges
