265/65R17's on mine and they fit fine...

What about the price though :( ... What did your Coopers cost Joe ?

You're on standard suspension there Blue ?

Stock as a rock, Quinny, with bullbar pulling the front down slightly... The 265/75R16's are an inch taller and they fit without scrubbing also...

The money is there or there abouts Quinny. I paid $330 a corner nearly 12 months ago for the STs.

Is there an iPod cable you can get for the GLX-R head unit?

Sorry - a little off topic in the tyres section - I shouldn't have brought it up

I am sorry to get back on the Ipod debate..
I have owned 2 cars with Ipod connectivity where it charges your ipod and you can change songs from your head unit and to be honest I will never own one again... My reason is it completely kills your Ipod.
It is on charge constantly then off charge when you turn off the car. All of this kills the battery, and the two Ipods I had lasted 6 months under that abuse.

I would always prefer to have the RCA Aux input.

Would not believe me until I showed him the MMAL site. He then showed me their tyre/rim manual for all major car manufacturers and guess what it says - 7".

Anyway once that was sorted he quoted $320 a corner which I thought was excessive...

Anyone running 265/65s on standard suspension I am interested in any change to:

gearing
Rubbing - I know they shouldn't
and fuel comsumption?

Cheers

I have just put the D697's on in the 265/65/17 size and can say they are great, speedo works out to be absolutely spot on now (10% over before) So my navman and speedo are synced now. Little bit extra fuel I would say but way better grip on all surfaces. I do have a slight 'shudder' now at only 100kph but its not bad at all just a tad annoying and no they don't rub :-)

Hi all. Have a 2012 MN DUAL cab GLR with allow wheels fitted with Bridgestone Dueller 245/70 16r H/T with 50k on them needing replacement. Tread width seems narrower than rim. What tyre would you recommend? Pulling 21' caravan around Australia, looking fo 70% highway, 30% off road. Could I fit 265/75 16R ? Goodyear wrangler A/T not getting good reviews on other sites. Bridgestone LT Dueller A/T seem to be OK But noisy on road.

Which model tyre? The D697's?

We were so happy with D697's (245/70/16) we swapped 'em off the 2010 MN onto the 2015 MN we just picked up. They've done 20.000 km's and could see the tread is WAY better than the stock OEM rubber. Very nice tyre, good grip, comfortable ride and QUIET.

I recently changed my Goodyear Wranglers -had 60,000km on them

Went with D697's
both were 265/70-16

From all reports the 697's have a pretty good reputation, happy with them so far but still a bit early for me to give a report on them.
The Wranglers used to get a bit slippery in the wet.
Wranglers were quieter but not by that much

After running 2 sets of the D694's, and most recently a set of the D697's, I have to admit I preferred the D694's. The D697's actually lasted OK, however at 18 Months old with 65,000 km on them, they were hard and getting very slippery in the wet (They still had atleast 40% tread left on them), so I'm thinking the compound may be a little harder, and the 694's even at 15% tread were still grippy in the wet.

I went with the new Toyo Open County ATII's, and in the bucketing down rain of the last few days, they are nice n grippy, even in the slop on the dirt roads we dove through. Were nice on the sand, however are a little noisier than the Bridgestones.

Will post an update as they progress as I don't see many people using them.

First of all......Welcome to NTN. 8-).
The Bridgestone D697 is a very good tyre and would suit your needs but make sure you get it in a LT construction. I run them in 265/75/16 and find they handle the weight very well.
But be aware, if you are going up in size that it will affect your gearing and will be most noticeable while towing, especially up hills.

If you go to 265/70 16s you will get the best trade off between fuel economy and off road. I find the 265/75 16s affect the gearing too much while towing. Feel it on hills especially.
I tow a 21' van and run 265/65 17 Bridgestone D697 and these work out the same as 265/70 16. I also run D674 (mud) in a 265/75 16 and you really feel the difference with the van on and add 10% to the fuel bill.
As for the D697 I have just clocked up 100k on them they have approx 10% tread left and I find they are still great in the wet. Will be replacing them with the same at tax time.

I agree I have 265 75 r16s toyo open country tyres on my MN and would trade them for something smaller in hind sight. I tow a builders trailer every day and really notice the gearing change. When these wear out I will definitely be downsizing.

I went with 245/75/17's. Gearing seems ok and 2mm under legal increase allowed

Thanks for the responses. Think I will go with LT 245/70 16R A/T because of gearing and pulling the van. Bridgestone Dueller A/T.. Are they the same as D 69? ?

Not necessarily ... few models in the AT vintage by Bridgestone

See here: https://www.bridgestonetyres.com.au/4x4 ... ll-terrain

Fair chance they are .... BUT, worth a double check before you buy ;)
