I meant as in the pics between a 32 inch and 33 inch tyre or a 15 inch and 16 inch rim won't be a whole lot on a picture...

yeah rim size makes abit of difference as far as i can tell 832mm tall with the 17" rims and 806mm on the 16"s so might not work out so well...also wheels with the differnt off set would also make a difference

265/70/17 is almost on par with 285/70/16's both being around 31.7" tyre...

265/70/17 and 285/70/16 (as you stated previously you were looking at)are not the same as 285/70/17 (which is what you originally asked about). 285/70/17 is 32.7 inches. I run 285/75/16 which is 32.8 inches in diameter. You asked for any pics, I stated even though they are different diameter wheels, the overall tyre diameter is similar. It differs by 0.1 of an inch. It'd give you a rough idea. But no stress, I was only trying to be nice and give you a rough idea. Good luck.

Hey Guy's I'm new here. Just wondering if anyone knows if you can run 285/70/r16 on standard alloy rims with only stock suspension? I'm driving a 2013 mn glx dual cab. cheers

I'd like people running this size to tell me how they go on diesel usage. I'll be up for tyres soon and just curious as to whether I'll step up a size or stay with the 32's.

So 285/70/17 on stock suspension will fit on a ML? Because my old man picked up some Achilles Desert Hawks while i was away and i havent the slightest clue whether they'll be fine without a lift.

Rears should just fit. Depends on how far your stock suspension has sagged
fronts will foul on muflap and pinch weld.

not a good size with no lift. They foul on mudflaps with a lift.

Highly recommend that you do a test fit with the Achilles Desert Hawks. They are a very big tyre for the size - almost a size bigger than other brands.

You can get an idea of how much bigger from this picture. Even though the 694s are a bit worn, the Desert Hawks are much bigger - yet both are, in this case, 265/65R17. The difference in physical size is similar in other tyre sizes.

Are your 285 70 17s on the stock rims? \

I ask because I want to put them on my '08 Olympic Edition's stock rims also.

Cheers!

Oh, don't worry - I just read the rest of the thread and my question's been answered.

I think I'll stick to the 265 70 17s in the Comforser Muddies though as I don't want the extra hassles of ... having to customise the spare wheel carrier under the tray, the extra fuel consumption, the lower power (especially when towing), the potential for scrubbing, etc.

Some good info and opinions here - cheers!

Do a search on running with 33's... Some people do run them but but usually means removing front mud flaps. Tritons do look good with 33s but imo makes them drive crap.

My 33s have caused constant knocking in the front end when turning and has probably caused damage to the tyres...

You drag the diff regardless...

Going back to 265s
