When I worked for dealerships etc in my otherlife (as a spanner turner) we used to turn the rattle gun down 2 clicks then finish off with a torque wrench, if the boss saw the torque wrench click on the first bit of pressure boot up backside......

But always blamed the apprentice

For anyone with a air/rattle gun that's interested, I just bought the 2 torque bars needed for both steel and alloy wheels separately from HERE - Carbon Black online for under $60 delivered.

They are K2114 (Powder Blue - 135NM for the alloys) and K2115 (Navy Blue - 150NM for the steelies)

Makes it a bit better price wise than a kit...

HC, if you're going to use a standard socket there is a real risk of breaking it when doing up (or, more so, undoing wheel nuts). Some wheel nuts are well recessed so you need a long socket rather than standard length. Others allow so little room around the nut, or bolt, that a thin wall socket is needed and if they've been tightened with a rattle gun it's very easy to break the socket.

Sockets designed for an impact wrench are much stronger but you might be just as well off to buy a wheel brace instead.

No the info is in the link. I've edited the post now but you will still have to click on the right one in the link if you want to buy it as they are all different torques.

yes Garth this is what i bought. i must admit the fabricating of socket to bar is a bit average but even so with the telescope extension it gives you much better leverage than a 4-way brace and much easier to store behind the seat.

when i am at home i use the battery drill and socket adapaptor to do all the spinning and i just nip them up with this bar. same deal undoing them. fast as.

No mate I didn't give a rating, just a colour.
But I thought you were talking about clicking on three different torque bars in the link and getting the wrong one where the title tells you the NM and the colour - I had posted the colour....

BTW I was going to edit your last post to be a smart arse but thought better of it ;)

The leverage is what I bought it for as there is nothing worse than struggling in the bush wth the POS that is supplied trying to undo a wheel nut that some Gorilla with a rattle gun has done up to tight. I have sheared studs with this bar :o .
Its 1/2 drive so also makes a better Breaker bar than my Sidchrome

On the extendable breaker bar topic, I bought a Force one with a ratchet head for work :? expected it to last a day.

I can't believe how strong it is and handy....a ratchet head breaker bar that hasn't broken in 6 months now
