18" ATZ 33" Tyres on ML with 2" Lift

Postby reeldreamer on Fri Nov 26, 2010 12:48 pm

G'day guys,
After doing quite a few search's I couldn't find the answers I was looking for. I am currently running 285/60 R18 (31's) coopers LTZ and i want to go bigger tyres using my current rims! I have seen that Mickey Thompson do a 275/70 R18 (33's) in the ATZ 4 rib which I like. Now my question is will i have enough room in the guards for 33's with only a 2" lift? I have seen a thread that a guy put 285/75 R16 and he said he removed the mud flap but I couldn't tell if he had a lift or not????

Now I seem to remember that Diablo might be running 33's but just looking for confirmation before ordering! BTW i am looking to get them out of USA, $200 a tyre cheaper then locally and chucking them in a container of machinery.

I have MTZ 33s on mine with a 2inch lift with a little trimming to the inner guard.

buzzy also runs 33" tyres with a 2" lift- stock rims

Might pay to know about the offset of your rims- as that can make a difference- they are not stock offset.
Also keen to know about this container- and if if has room for another set of tyres

G'day Mitch, I've got some 285's on mine, when i got mine they rubbed when i was on full lock, they rubbed through the inner guard near the washer motor and on the mud flaps.
I ended up lifting mine after the bull bar went on, all fixed. :)

Yep so do I :)
I was a bit p#$$ed off when i found out they don't make them in a 16's anymore, i was trying to get a set of 3 for the tri-trailer project :x
After contacting all the suppliers in Aust i found just one rim in 16, but they do still have them in 15's

Thanks Johno for the pics that really helps! So they measure 33 right? I am looking at 33.3 from memory so I think i might just get them to fit one to a rim and try it on!

Yep they measure 33, I just had a look at your shed and noticed all the "extra" bit you intend to add...all the steel bits!
You might want to consider the extra weight before you add your 33.3's....just a thought

I'll be sure to add some pics once it is done! I think it will look pretty tough on 33's with 18" rims! I am going to upgrade the front springs to constant load once the bull bar is fitted to account for the added weight. I am going to use the current rims I have on which are american racing and import the tyres from Minnesota as they are much cheaper! I really like the ATZ 4 rib as my mate has the same tyre in a 35" x 20" Rim on his F250 and they are very nice!

33's to go on 18" Rims

Postby hcr83 on Sat Dec 06, 2014 9:57 am

Gday,

I am looking to upgrade from my 32" Bighorns to a 33" all terrain tyre but...............$$$$$$

The size i am looking for is 275/70/18 and the only ones i can find is....

MT MTZ @ $600 a corner
MT ATZ P3 @ $530 a corner
Cooper STT @ $629 a corner
Cooper ST MAXX @ $549 a corner

These prices are murderous.

I was just wondering if anyone out there knew of a good AT tyre I can get in that size for around the $400 mark.

I have a 2" lift and getting a 1" body lift done so the 33's should be all good.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

You could almost go back to 17" 285/70/17 and new rims for $550 a corner.

It's the 18s that are the issue.

Ok - I am thinking I might be able to flog off my 18" with the Bighorns attached to them and put the money towards a full set of 17" rims and new 33" tyres. (285/70/17)

Its probably been thrashed but can someone point me in the right direction as to what offset would be best to run the 33's on. I would be looking at the Allied Wasps as this is what I have on now and I like them.

Appreciate the help so far - thanks fellas
