My Cooper st Maxx didn't enjoy that amount of weight on them.

Or if someone may be able to help with another tyre brand that may handle the weight.

I've had a really good run out of the Goodyear mtr in similar conditions to what you describe
Just have to watch alignment otherwise they are a quiet mud tyre similar to the maxx but I found handled the off-road gravel of touring and long wearing
You pay for it though, equivalent to the Mickey Thompson or cooper but those D697 are a lot cheaper also with good reports, but not as capable off-road

Oh and the bush tracker forum rate the bridgestones so must be ok with weight

In theory, larger wheels need lower profile tyres to maintain the same rolling diameter and this means lower sidewalls which would not allow the same increase in contact patch when deflated. In practice, though, the difference between 16" wheels and 17" isn't much and there is no real difference in any of the conditions that we're likely to encounter. Naturally, this wouldn't be the case if you went to 22" wheels.

Many people actually try to go for a smaller wheel in order to access a bigger range of tyres and generally lower prices, although, as 17" wheels become the norm, this is becoming less of an issue.

If your concern is bottoming out then you may want to look at bigger tyres, which again can still be done on the 16" wheels in order to give more diff clearance although I'd question whether going this way has a huge advantage. If you were bottoming out on the underbody then a suspension lift would be more appropriate.

Body lift isn't the answer, mate. On a Triton there are plenty of bits that hang lower than the body. A suspension lift will raise the chassis and everything attached to it, giving you more clearance everywhere except the rear axle and diff pumpkin.

it was bottoming out on the front bash plate, very boggy sand with big wheel ruts, was ploughing through it.

My point exactly. A body lift won't help in that situation. Even much bigger wheels and tyres probably won't give you as much more clearance as a suspension lift and then you have issues of whether they'd fit and legality.

205/80/16 I think. You can find the answer easy enough with Google.

Best for some is 265/70/16 or 31's others like 265/75/16 or 32's and some like standard size tyres. There are many other sizes that are 31" or 32" diameter. If you are worried about legal look at your Dept of Transport website.

Will fit no worries on standard suspension

If you go mud tyres or up sizes expect fuel economy to increase, get nothing for nothing

Thanx for the info mate, i found out the fuel consumption doesn't really change with the 3.2 TD so thats good, and its 3.8mm over the legal limit, would the transport and insurance places notice the difference? Coz the 75's look heaps better than the 70's.

not sure who told you that.............. :? :? :? the 2 inch increase from OEM to 32's will effect economy.

Yep

I have stock suspension xrox and runva 11xp and have had for about 50 000 kms now and run 265 75 16s with no issues, even at full flex you are a long way off hitting anything with the 32's on stock rims, they are pretty much the perfect size

Chris,
That old chesnut tyres....I have read a lot of information about tyres here and elsewhere. Will they fit, wont they fit, too tall, too wide, are they legal etc. Wondering if you can help? I have a 2013 MN GLX-R. Standard rims are 17x7.5 with 245/65/R17's Dullers. Im looking to uprade tyres but not rims (unless it would be worth it) to one of these options 245/70/r17, 265/65/r17 or 265/70/r17. The first two will fit and give the truck arround 26mm (13mm) height. I do a lot of beach driving and want the truck to look good with new tyres. Do you know where I can find info on whether the last option will fit without issue.
Regards
David

According to this site, about an inch of height will be gained. I an yet to change the tyres but from what I've seen here the 265/70 and 265/75 will go on no worries.
