Control arm bushes

Postby sammy199 on Sun Aug 10, 2014 4:56 pm

Hey guys been searching all afternoon but haven't been able to find anything I'm what I'm looking for.
Just wondering has anyone replaced the bushes on the upper and lower control arms and how did they go about it and how much did they pay, mine are completely shagged out and need replacing ASAP was gonna do the ball joints while I'm at it
I rang byrsins yesterday and got a quote of 650 for all the parts and the mechanic at work said he will fit it for 240 for me does this sound right or is there cheaper places for me to go.

2 sets of bushes for $650 sounds a bit over the top. Does that include new control arms?

That pricing is about right for control arm bushes and ball joints.

If you want to save a bit of money and keep it genuine, try contacting TritonWreckers on this forum. They may have some second hand control arms in good condition. As long as the arms are not damaged and the bushes are good, it will be the cheapest way to fix your problem. The cost of complete control arms is often close to individual components, but the labour aspect is far less.

If by byrsins you Burson auto parts you will find they have trade and retail pricing. If when you say mechanic at work you mean the place where you work has it's own mechanic they may have a trade account and may be willing to order the parts for you and pass on any savings.

Just a thought.
