front struts

I want to get my front ultimate struts apart to check the shocks
I completed the canning stock route in jun and they copped a hiding
Any tricks to get them apart

Take them out yourself, if you want to, but definitely take them to a suspension place to get the coils separated from the shocks.

Doesn't take Einstein to work out which is stronger, spring wire or pissy Chinese threaded rod.

A 4x4 place I visited a few years ago had a commercial grade spring compressor machine shatter with the more recent style of coils.

I agree with the 5th. maybe you could do a deal with an Ultimate Suspension distributor in your area.

My local garage installed mine for$150 ,
The picture above is just 1 of the reAsons I was glad to get separated from my hard to come by cash
