That is the whole point. It flattens the cv shaft angle back to "normal" with bigger lifts (3.5/4")

I realize that it reduces the angle with a lifted vehicle, what I'm wondering is on compression will it put the cv's back into the angles that we are trying to avoid? opposite to droop?
If that makes sense :?

KARRMAN DIFF DROP KIT FOR ML MN

Postby motoz on Mon Feb 29, 2016 11:08 am

From my understanding it brings the angles back to factory on both comp and droop @ 2" of lift.

If I'm correct, it's a 37mm drop, so you can lift your vehicle 3.5" with same lift / droop as a 2" lift. I stand to be corrected though.

It seems the upper UCA lifts the droop stop up from the suspension control arm for more room. I assume this increases total travel/range of motion.

My question would be. Does the CV joint bind at full up or down motion (droop and tuck) due to this greater range of motion?

What do you need to do about tie rod/ rack end angles if anythings needs doing?

Keep the standard ucas and just put the diff drop kit in and thrn yo yh wont have a problem. If you dont want to break cvs due to extreme angles keep your ucas

So I'm guessing this kit was like the rest and never made it to the shelves? If so is there any where else you can get a diff drop kit for them?

No I gather they can be purchased. Not sure if the engineering came through in the end but there seem to be a few of them on tritons on Facebook. Google may turn them up for you.

Possibly does come with paperwork now. I no longer see "Diff drop posts" so only from inference that they have paper work. Suspension lifts above 50mm are not the easiest to do legally. So would only be legal at 2"

Or search Facebook for the name given in first few posts.

I posted links above.

There are a large number of "Triton" pages quite a few people have fitted the diff drop kit.

The only kit I could find is this;

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mitsubishi-T ... 1692842195

They also sell just the diff drop, minus the "3 inch lift" (strut spacers and lifting blocks).

No mention of engineering approval.

No that is not the Karrman Kit (Nick Kotter) one.
In the past kits like the eBay one needed more welding to be approved for fitment by engineering. A few people have fitted the eBay kits and seem happy. Also tales of fitting issues. There are several Thai based kits for sale on eBay.
About a eBay type kit
A short extract of an engineers report of what is needed to pass inspection. "Cross member - Bracing required on 2 outer arms where the 2 bolt holes are to limit torsion. Diff mount bracket requires full plate at 4mm.
Diff arms - full thickness welds required. Existing welds had issues with full penetration.
UCA - fold quality of steel is fine. Welds sound.
Also comments about overall finish being shit and recommended cold gal and repaint as minimum."

I would buy the Karrman kit that I post the Facebook page link for above.

Those rear leaf blocks are just dangerous. I have pictures of them failing causing $2000 worth of damage.

It doesn't have the UCAs a key component.

there is also
https://www.superiorengineering.com.au/ ... t_id=27754

The best kit is the Karrman one. Depending on which kit you buy from Asia/ebay it needs re-welding to make it safer.

If you have "lifted" that much you need a diff drop to get the CV angle lower. Then you need new UCAs to get some suspension travel back.

These"diff drops" are changing some pretty major components. I would want to be confident they are well made.
