Squeaking rears ?? is there a cure ??

Took mine in at 7:50AM yesterday for the fix, which I stated to them on the phone the day before when I booked.
Got a call at 12:20PM telling me that "There's a TSB (Technichal Service Bulletin) out on your vehicle for the problem and the Eastern States have run out of the parts so we'll give you a call when they're here."
Bastards!
Would have been nice if they'd told me that on the phone so I didn't now have to catch up on half a day of work.

Did the CRC Dri Glide trick the other day seems to work very well. And it is dry, nor crud will be attacted to it like other lubes.

I'll see how it goes.

Hello lads,

Mine hace to started to squeak on my new MN. Its about 5 months old and has just started.

Bastards!! Oh yeah, and I reckon the left hand side is completely stuffed because it leans over to the left badly.

I just need to decide how long before I do the Ultimate upgrade... or do I waste my time with a warranty claim. :(

Hello Ladies and gents,

I have my 09 MN booked in for tomorrow for the spring fix.I hope it works b/c the noise is starting to really P!ss me off.
I had it in for a fix 5 months ago and the springs started squeaking about 2 klm after I left the dealers.I reported it but they never rang back for another appointment. annyway I hope this latest fix is the final one. from the sound of it this has been an annoying issue for many.
I shall report back soon with the results.
Cheers all
Rich

Its been 2 days now and no noise from the rear end.they have placed teflon looking spacers b/w the spring packs and also a spacer on the U shaped brackets that keep the packs aligned.
the individual springs now appear to have gaps between them(similar to old patrols).

from what some of you are saying this may not be successful in the long run.
heres hoping.

Well I am convinced my suspension is screwed. The truck is leaning to the left more now than it was. It's due for a service soon, so they are going to get a fix it or keep it when I drop it off.

Kits fitted to each side yesterday.
No squeaks yet. Will give it the weekend before I'm convinced it's fixed. Fingers crossed.

Squeaking rears ?? is there a cure ??

Postby burnah on Sun Nov 20, 2011 10:26 pm

Anyone who's had the fix notice the suspension is harder?
I swear it doesn't lean as much around corners as it used to.

update:
It definately doesn't. During the week since the fix, the missus and 2 of my workmates all commented that it seemed to roll less and the missus was the only one who even knew anything had been done.
I know stuff all about suspension so I've got no idea how it's even possible.

Just to prove I tried searching:

Giving them a good cleanout after a trip definitely helps reduce the occurrence I found with my stock ones.

Your ultimates are still brand new, mine squeak after I clean underneath, I just pretend that I am driving in a rainforest all the time, it helps, bellbirds.... :)

Am I the only one who was game enough to spend $10 at supercheap to buy a can of Lanox (from the makers of Inox) to stop my squeaking Ultimate Suspension springs. Two months now of bliss, oh well my secret that I will not share with anyone suppose. :D

My OEMs never made a noise but my Ultimates have started squeaking bad. Might need to give them a belt with a hammer to re-align the leaves.

My Ultimate's are squeaking... The only time I have had them off road since install was the very tame trip up to Queen Mary Falls... a few water crossings...

Which is disappointing because I used the squeaking as a tactic with the missus to replace the original rubbish ;)

Admittedly I have not gone back for 1K inspection as yet (probably just need a belt with a hammer  )

Mine haven't squeaked till the robe trip a good dunking in soft sand fixed that
Having said that I have given them a good wash with the hose & the squeaking has reduced by heaps
When I change over to the muddies for this weekend I'll give them a good lube and hopefully all will be good :D

I found another way to get rid of the squeaks on the weekend pick an overgrown track & with all the pinstripes being made sounding like fingernails down a chalk board you can't hear the suspension

I can't see you avatar either Moooooooooons.
Not on any of our Ithingos.....so it's not an apple thing.
Now that you mention it....my rear ultimate springs have never squeaked. :)
Maybe it's the coating of clay between the leafs keeping them lubed.
