This is kind of  to me.......

I have had and still have many 4X4's here with a mix of trucks. Some dating back to 1949. Only two have this issue. Yes my MN is one! Never had to chase this problem before this truck. It has already been covered.

In mitsu days....... Canter truck no issues, MB l200 express no issues, MJ Triton, no issues, Now the MN  What have they done? I'm not convinced the later set up is superior either. The older trucks survived their standard suspension shocks aside for over 300k.

So ... had the truck at the stealers a week ago for its 15,000 (okay...so it was 18,000 but what's 3,000 between Triton owners) and one of the things that I raised was the squeaky backside.

Their response at the end of the day was that they "compared the noise from ours to another one which was in for a service". Lo and behold...it was exactly the same. Their decision ... it must be normal.

Suffice to say, I was less than impressed. So, after a couple of stern words, on a number of occasions, they've finally agreed to fit the silencer kit. Gotta wait until it arrives in Brisbane from Sydney.

Better late than never I s'pose.

Had the silencer kit fitted finally yesterday after a bit of stuffing around (the least of it was that they lost my keys so had to wait until they could pick up my missus' keys on Friday night).

Picked the truck up yesterday afternoon - what a difference. No sound whatsoever and, dare I say it (or is it just wishful thinking on my part) ... it feels stiffer too.

Now ... if only they'd sort out the noise coming from the gearbox (a 5 day job booked in for the beginning of March)

Mate, I'm with you. I mentioned this earlier in the thread. Mine is definitely stiffer and slightly higher since the fix!
(At least, that's what the missus said    ) Seriously though, it rolls less around corners. Happy as!

So far, so good. And that's after about 164,000,000 corrugations on Cape York so far. Test will be though once we get home and can clean the dust off.

Got the 'silencer kit' fitted this week ... geez it's great having no more squeaks ...

Sneaking out for the dawn patrol surf check, I could REALLY hear the squeak as I drove down our street, since getting the new rubber ... not anymore!

Same when I climbed into the cab, squeak squeak as I got comfy ... gone gone gone !!!

I've been told this is a 'hotline fix' but like all of them, only applied when a customer complains.

So, don't be shy and speak up .. tell your stealer to fit them !!!

Plenty of info on the different suspensions available triton08.

Click the top link in my sig line and all will be revealed.

If you need anything else, hit the big red "search forum" button at the top of the page and type Ironman.
I hate to advocate drugs, sex, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they’ve always worked for me.

TODAY I had a regional service manager take a look at the Triton. I removed EVERYTHING from the tub, leaving only the tub liner and canopy. Removed all from the back of the rear seat - all to eliminate any possibility of rattles/squeaks. Also removed D-shackles on tow bar. Took Regional fellow and the head service guy from Knox Mitsubishi around the speed humps in local shopping centre.
Since the initial change of springs (and me attending dealer many times), things have been slowly getting less noisy BUT it was still there a little. After running the speed humps, some noise was still evident. Triton up on hoist, push, pull, prod the rear suspension and other bits and, lo and behold, squeaks ..........coming from...........SPARE F**KIN WHEEL.
Seems the chain hangers are not strong enough (nor is the sectional operating pole/brace) to get the hanger mechanism tight enough to actually STOP all squeaking from the tyre as it rests under a cross brace of the chassis. Its really the design of the spare wheel mounting mechanism that is just not good enough to stop all wheel movement.
Now, having said that, I am "reservedly" saying that was the issue, as I am not entirely convinced yet. Some more work to go (pad between the cross brace and the spare wheel), etc, etc.

Funny you say that. I sprayed the suspension on mine with Lunatic but it was still squeaking. I noticed the spare had some slight movement a few weeks ago and tightened it up and now I think about it, it has quitened down significantly. Might try some rubber mat above spare and see if this is the squeak that is still there. Good tip buddy. No wonder Mitsu keep telling me I have the quite spring set and can't understand why it hasn't been sorted  .

I've read through the forum and I to have the dreaded squeaking issue coming from the ass end of my 2007 ML Triton. Have been putting up with it for two years, doing the Lanotec, dry glide etc, but still the squeak persists. Dropped the sparewheel away today, and low and behold the Squeak has stopped. A definite rubbing mark is evident on the top side of my tyre, where it contacts the chassis. Touch wood nothing so far, here's hoping. Be changing out my Bushes and shocks at the end of the week, and may install some conveyer rubber on the chassis cross member between the spare to give it some added compression to prevent movement.

Did the big clean on my ML triton today which has 91,000 on the clock and noticed on the rear springs that the rubbers are missing from the spring sets and they are starting to rub metal to metal. Warranty runs out May this year, also the springs squeak heaps which is very very noticeable at low speeds.

Anyone else had this problem or do I call my dealer in the morning.

My 2012 MN is 6 weeks old and has started squeaking like a bloody mouse plague.

Today I sat on the tailgate and it squeaked as I got on -got off.
So down to the stealers in the morning I go.
Regards, Trevor.
