Well. The service manager is going to lube the front pin and the things between the leaves. If it doesn't work, they will do the silencer upgrade.

I washed the Ute today and the squeaking has gone. I'll see if it comes back after everything drys out.
Regards, Trevor.

Yeah wetting makes them go quiet. Hard to see why they wouldn't just stick the kit in straight up.

The ML is into the dealer on Friday to have the sqeak from the rear suspension fixed under warranty, since my spring packs are missing some of the rubber pads between spring leafs missing and one leaf has been rubbing metal to metal so I would say about .5 of a mil worn, what may I be looking at the dealer doing for the repair, two new spring packs, or maybe just the silencer fitted. Any thoughts from the forum members.

Adjusted probably means hit the leaves with a hammer to stop them scraping. Lube eventually comes off. The silencer kit adds some material between the leaves and what they scrape on which is a little more long lasting I imagine.

Apparently motorbike chain lube is the field fix by stealers, my 2012 mn has squeaked since new, I am putting a lift in it tomorrow so won't have to worry about it anymore :-)

A lift won't remove squeaking I'm afraid.

Surely changing the rear springs will get rid of the squeak from the factory rear springs because they won't be there

The replacement ones squeak too. :(

Chain lube works - for a little while. :( :(

The problem is that the leaves get out of horizontal alignment when the rear flexes. Solution is to lift the car so that weight is off the springs and then belt them back into line. 5lb club hammer works.

had the silencer fitted on 11/1/13 and within 10 days the squeack was back advised the dealer about the noise and was advised to bring it back in, was not able to until the day after the warranty ran out was advised no problems it will be covered, took it in and was then told after 1.5 hours we haave found your problem the rubbers between the spring bpacks are missing the rubbers. They will cost you about $550.00 each plus labour, as you are out of warranty. Did I see red, advised them problem commenced under warraty advised them the rubbers were missing etc, now waiting om National office to see if it can be done under warraty for the new spring packs. Lets wait and see.

When I took mine in for 30,000 I told them about the squeak and they fitted the silencer kit straight away, even though (as luck would have it) it stopped squeaking the day before I took it in. Have had the kit on for about a month now and haven't heard a peep.

My lift removed my squeak. Although I have probably only done 5,000km with it in. but so far so good.

It cleared with my lift for a little while, then it came back,
I just had my suspension serviced, now it is gone again, for how long I don't know. Just part of the fun owning leaf springs!

Ultimate have plastic packers on the sides of the springs which helps cause if they aren't there it's hell!!! I've had one slip out and wow, it squeaks like crazy, just waiting on a bolt to hold it in and it will be silent again. :D
