Am I the only one who was game enough to spend $10 at supercheap to buy a can of Lanox (from the makers of Inox) to stop my squeaking Ultimate Suspension springs. Two months now of bliss, oh well my secret that I will not share with anyone suppose. :D

I use a form of Lanox which is heavier than the spray on stuff. Pain to get in but works well. Will get the number when I get home from work

Squeaky rear springs

Postby matt07ml on Tue Nov 08, 2011 3:31 pm

Hi all , this has been covered before and I see some people are using lanotec on them. I got sick of mine today so out came the can of chain lube for the bike , few squirts between the spring packs that I could get the little straw into and wahla no more squeak .

I agree the chain lube works well for a while. Though i find after a couple of pressure washes to remove mud they squeak again pretty quickly.

As far as I know though there is a new silencer kit available from mitsu which is supposed to fix the problem properly.

Spraying lube will attract dirt, Sand and all the crap you dont want in your springs, If your car is under warranty and still original springs, take it back and get them to fit the Silencer kit.

So far so good with them.

I'm not the original owner of it so I don't know how I would go with warranty

Essentially, if your under 5 years, 130,000k's, then you should be covered!

Or if you are really concerned about the squeek you could get a set of greasable shackles 8-)

I thought the squeak is coming from the leaves rubbing together. Not the shackles?

I've got some stuff that might work. A CRC product called Dry Glide which is a dry film lubricating treatment containing PTFE.

Haven't tried it yet but should work well without attracting dust, dirt and other corruption.

I don't think leaf springs are supposed to be lubricated though.

Most lubrication will attract dust and dirt... I'd be hesitant to spray anything as it just seems like a short term fix which will make things worse in the long run... Could be wrong tho. Down to the dealership anyway to see if I can convince them to make the change out.

If not, gonna have to start saving for the Ultimate upgrade...

My OEMs never made a noise but my Ultimates have started squeaking bad. Might need to give them a belt with a hammer to re-align the leaves.

I just got my car back from mitsu nundah and they need me to bring it back monday. Seems there has been 2 fixes for the squeak in the suspension and they did not have the items there to do the first fix. They need to do the first fix to be able to do the second fix...thats the short version of the long explanation she gave me...sounded like she had had a hard day so i didnt push the matter

If your going to book it in she said to advise them if you have had the squeak repaired once or not at all as it will change the job required to get it right.

...we will see.
