One piece tailshaft fixes the shudder. I tried spacing the gearbox up lowered the Centre bearing by flipping the mount and a tailshaft spacer to get all the angles right it did reduce the shudder considerably but not totally .

I just fitted a modified center bearing from Ultimate.

Problem solved. :D

Interesting, I still have a slight shudder on mine, even with the spacer. Have you got any pics?

Why do some have the two piece tail shaft?

Its only expected a shorter shaft will be subjected to more severe uni angles. Interesting that mitsi would do the two piece on a fourby.

Can't remember now, but the mq's with the 'dog dick' on the diff ; are they the units that also have two piece shafts?

I hope so.

My old Dobinsons have had it (they have stopped leaking so I'm guessing they're empty hehe)

Fair chance I will just go a one piece.

Is there any companies that have specs for them? Or best to get it measured?

What life are people getting out of unis? I would prefer to replace them but if its not needed I wont. (120k and greased regurlarly)

Thanks

No photos as the ute has been moved onto a new owner.
It just looks like a normal centre bearing. You can only tell if you put them side by side.

Saying that, mine was a prototype 2 1/2 years ago so they may have changed. I don't even know if they went into production.
Best to talk to ultimate.

Hey,

Lift kit turned up this afternoon. I have put it in and gone for a quick drive and don't have a shudder? (2 piece ML) Even with flogged out stock rears it sometimes shudders.

I'm not complaining 8-)

the back was only the 0-20mm lift so maybe that has something to do with it.

I originally put Dobinson 50mm coils and shocks in the front with stock springs and Dobinson shocks on the rear.

Every corner has gone up around the 30mm mark so quite obviously everything was sagged.

Ill get a wheel alignment next week and give it a check over after a few kms and see how its settling in.
